Editorial Review for Prive Salon – by Andrea Rademan
The Scene
There's no guarantee you'll look like Cameron Diaz, Denise Richards or Christina Ricci, but you may look at them or countless other Hollywood starlets who frequent this salon. But that's not why we'd put our head, and a tote bag full of the green stuff, in Prive's hands. Everyone gets equally skillful treatment and pampering in these immaculate and spacious Buddha-themed quarters.
The Services
Owner Laurent Dufourg spends half his time here, half at his equally high-end New York salon. He handpicked 12 hair stylists, six colorists and one makeup artist for individualized haircuts, styling and color; extensions; scalp treatments (massage, special oils, steamer); balayage (thick highlights, painted straight out from the scalp--faster but harsher than foil) and high-tech Japanese relaxers that withstand additional coloring rather than requiring semi-permanent dyes. Dan Holmes (ex-Jose Eber) is a pro at eyebrow-shaping and waxing.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasBuddha Garden cafe out back serves light, healthy French food, coffee drinks and New Age elixirs with Asian names. Or watch videos in the small secluded front corner lounge and contemplate which artisan evening purses, hair accessories and restyled antique jewelry you can't live without.
Know Before You GoChristian Snyder restores damaged hair and keeps it healthy and natural--richer in winter, lighter in summer.

Came here to do highlights, the results are amazing.. the style afterwards was incredible, overall, very very pleased - I would highly recommend to anyone. For the highlights I had colorist Kaitrin and then to style, Jennifer. Its quite pricey, but, I feel you pay for the excellent work, service, and great products they apply to your hair. Cant wait to go back to L.A. to sample more of their services, (not to mention the spa above which I hear is just as fab!)
Pros: They know their hair!
Cons: Expensive

My favorite stylist Bernard at Prive is no longer there. Thankfully, I was able to find him and he is now at Byron Williams in Beverly Hills.
