A nice pair of khakis is all it takes to feel at home with this classic crew..
The Scene
Best known for its catalogue, this bastion of preppie couture boasts a slew of outposts across the country. Quality fabrics and comfortable cuts make the store a favorite among the college/ young professional set, who sport J. Crew's signature khakis, T-shirts, sweaters and dressier professional wear. The stores' layout mirrors the catalogue's look: clean, organized and well stocked.
The Goods
T-shirts come in soft, light cotton that never pills and sweaters look just as good three winters after you buy them. The great thing about J. Crew's classic styles is that little changes from season to season except the colors being offered. The line does introduce new, trendy-but-still-conservative pieces every season, but it's the staples that make up the core of the J. Crew look. Shoes and accessories are also available.
Have you stepped inside lately?. Since all the reviews listed were from 2002 I thought it was time for an update. Have you been inside a J.Crew lately? It's fall there and the warmth of the color pallet and cashmere show it. Yes it may be true that the prices are higher but for the quality of the product it's really the best. Their cashmere comes from Loro Piana, their shoes are made in Italy, and they have leather bags tumbled by Borge Gavarie. I love J.Crew and have been shopping there for years, they have basic items as well as the really great, one-of-a-kind pieces that really make a statement. It's not just chinos anymore. Plus what's better they have kids clothes and bothe my daughter and I love there little versions of preppy. If you haven't been stopped by in awhile, you should, but this isn't the Gap so you should expect quaulity and expect to pay for it. On a side note, since this references the Bellevue location, you should know that they are remodeling so things look a little rough around the edges, but the service and products are still fantastic.
truly unbiased. I used to be a bigger fan of JCrew. Now, they're TRYING to sell too much trendy crap, I'm sure it was a gamble they might be figuring out was a bad idea.
Run. I have never been able to find something at J Crew. Their clothing is too expensive and not well made. I just don't bother going in there, especially when I can buy bland clothing for much less if I wanted to.
yay for tall girls!. I can actually find pants in longer lengths at J Crew, its wonderful! They have cute sweaters among tons of other great shirts. I love the catalog.
Run, Don't Wak, Away. The prices are horible, the clothes are poorly made, the employees are very arrogant and pretty mean. The clothes are boring and can be duplicated at Old Navy, just without the attitude.
