The Scene – The humble dining room belies its outstanding cuisine. Regulars are addicted to large portions and consistent preparation, starting with lentil soup and crisp salad, perhaps ending with a complimentary Turkish coffee and a square of killer baklava. A nondescript room with lace curtains the obscure the view of Bellevue Way. – – The Food – This Eastside incarnation of the lower Queen Anne institution creates Middle Eastern dishes so garlic-rich as to render greater downtown Bellevue a vampire-free zone. Rude staff. Not family friendly
by qifahs
We were at the restaurant with a party of 11, including 2 kids of 3 years old. After eating food the kids were roaming around our table in an empty restaurant, there were 2 other parties with kids of their own, we were nowhere close. We were treated with comments like "ask the kids to not touch the other tables" and "this is not a private party, so please control your kids". For some reason we lost our epitite after that. 3 of the elder kids went out with the little ones and sat in our van. The staff even had the nerve of asking us after that if the cake should be served out. Obviously we just took our cake and had a good time at home.
I've been a regular to this restaurant for the past 11 years. But this was just ridiculous. I would say, my last time there.
If you have a family with kids, save yourself the embarrassment from this staff. If you want a classy place there are better restaurants around the area like Cheesecake Factory and McCormick and Schmicks.
- Pros: Good food
- Cons: Hard to enjoy with a snobby and rude staff
Very overspiced and not at all authentic
by Sheilometer
I hated this dining experience. Several co-workers recommended this restaurant and I was ready to be wowed. Instead I got a plate of food that was so overspiced, I couldn't tell what meat I was eating. It was as if someone who had never eaten Mediterranean food tried to cook what they thought would be characteristic of the region. The server was brisk and the ambiance was slightly gaudy. I felt very cramped in the dining room. I will not be going back. If you want something tasty on the east side, try Alborz in Redmond. They have wonderful food, service and ambiance.

What to Drink:
Sweet mint or orange spice tea makes fine accompaniments to the spicy food during cool weather; opt for a crisp beer on warmer evenings.
