Editorial Review for Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art – by Citysearch Editors
In Short
This eclectic museum is a shrine to preserving the playthings of childhood--dolls, teddy bears, miniatures and other toys--as works of art. That Whyel, scion of an Alaskan coal mine-owning family and founder of this 13,000-square foot neo-Victorian museum, loves dolls is an understatement--there are more than 1,000 on permanent display. Among the treasures are a papier-mache English matron (circa 1690), rare wooden dolls with original wardrobes and early Barbies and G.I. Joes.
