Avoid this Studio

Arthur Murray's is not a good way to learn to dance, unless you've had many years of trianing. The curriculum here is meant only to promote the studio, so when my wife and I moved to a new city and started taking lessons again, we were told that we had learned many steps the wrong way and that we had developed a lot of bad habits that are difficult to break. Also, we didn't know the real names of any of the steps we had learned, because the studio has renamed almost all of them. So, you might be able to dance with your dance teacher in the studio, but in the real world, you'll be clueless. I now can't dance with anyone but my wife because I didn't learn the proper leads, and I have no idea what the steps are really called. People who are new to dancing should avoid this place.
Amazing Staff, Great Customer Service, Top Shelf Experience

I finally decided I wanted to Dance Like the Stars, I was tired of watching them dance on TV so I got off the couch, looked on the internet and saw Arthur Murray. Really liked the information I received and how I was treated when I called about their introductory program. It was easy and fun, the dance instructors are all obviously well trained. I was actually really very surprised that I could do it, I wasn't really sure I would be able to learn how to move like that. I really like the focus on social dancing and they have two dance parties every week so I can practice what I learn on my lessons. I have met a lot of people and am having a really great time. One of the great things about their program - I can go to as many group classes as I want to during the week as a service on my dance program and it's no additional charge. This is definately a luxury for me, but well worth the money I am spending. Knowing how to dance changes a lot of things.
- Pros: Hours & Days Open
- Cons: Parking can be dicey
