A Welcoming Community of Diverse Peoples & Beliefs.
I initially came to East Shore as a liberal place for my child to go to Sunday School. 13 years later, I've stayed because it has become a home.
East Shore has provided an outlet for my personal beliefs through it's Earth-Based Celebrations. Celebrations of the Equinoxes and Solstices are at times contemplative, spirited and joyous. They honor the connections that humans have had with the earth, the sun, the universe since prehistory.
My social needs are met through the various connected organizations, especially The Women's Perspective, which meets monthly with special speakers or activities. An annual retreat at Rainbow Lodge in North Bend is a true highlight of peace and relaxation.
I appreciate the various social justice activities that the church members are involved in; from hosting a group of homeless men for 1 month every year, to sponsoring an apartment at the YWCA for homeless women & children, to habitat for humanity, to partnering with churches in India and Romania, to... well it just goes on and on. These people put their beliefs into action, and that is very important to me.
Great place for kids and families. We came to ESUC looking for a spiritual home for our family and to support us in the upbringing of our kids. We were not looking for a Christian church but wanted a spiritual faith rooted in shared humanistic values that supported each persons' religious journey. ESUC is a perfect fit! The religious exploration classes teach children cooperation, understanding, compassion and give them an awareness of the diverse religious views held around the world. Our youth visit many religious institutions and have conversations with other youths about their beliefs. This church truly is working towards building a more compassionate, understanding, and tolerant world. And the music is phenomenal, and the church has an ongoing art show that supports local and world artists. I just can't say enough good things about this place!
Warm & Welcoming Liberal Faith Community. When I came to East Shore Unitarian Church I was struck by what a welcoming and warm liberal faith community it offered. I so believe in the values of Unitarian Universalism that I became the director of membership. Join Us!
