In Short – Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.

If you're not a fan of Foster's, try another Australian beer: Newcastle Brown Ale.

Check Your Takeout Order

by sunkelly at Citysearch

Had an office order take out on a Wedneday at 7:30. We made the order, the takeout girl was nice enough to read it back to us, then when we picked it up, it came out to be - quite different. We ordered an Outlook Special Steak, turned out to be an Alice Chicken, our side order veggie on the Royal Port fish was missing, and the No Rules Blue Cheese salad turned into Caecar, hmm. We also had a mysterious fish entry that was added to the total order then later corrected.

Then we went back to fix it and pick up the order, we told them a Honda was coming to pick it up aand they thought it would be a Toyota. :)

The food itself is as good as any other Outbacks if the order was right. This happened to me twice already, I guess I had my fair share of the benefit of the doubt. :)

  • Pros: Accessible neighborhood location
  • Cons: Messed up take-away orders

Will Not Return

by zulan78 at Citysearch

My family went to the Outback to celebrate my husbands birthday and we were seated promptly with reservations for nine. The restaurant was quite empty on a Sunday night. The Bloomin' Onion Rings were still as good as I remembered them to be. My Caesar salad came and tasted as if it had no dressing, all cheese and not much else. My 8 oz Prime Minister's Prime Rib was ordered as a medium rare and it came out to be medium. The same happened to my sister, who ordered the same thing, prime rib medium rare. I asked for another piece and they came back out with the same thing, medium cooked, and they told me it was the rarest piece they had left. It was a disappointment and the prices of the place has gone up since the last time I visited, which has been some time. I will definitely not be coming back for their overpriced dry steak. I'd rather go to Jak's, for the comparable prices, that was spent at this restaurant. If you have to go to this restaurant, order a tenderloin steak or something similar, at least those are cooked individually and will probably be more to your liking.

  • Pros: Prompt Seating
  • Cons: Dry Steak, Tasteless Food
