Dr Charles Chu is a horrible doctor, don't see him..
Dr. Charles Chu is a horrible doctor, don’t see him. See Dr. Jennifer Siaam instead, as she was able to quickly and dramatically help reduce my foot pain (better orthotics and night splints) while Dr. Chu caused me 2 months+ of increased foot pain.
I saw Dr. Chu 6 times and he always made me wait an hour just to be checked in. I asked 3 other patients waiting in the reception area if this was common and all 3 confirmed this happens every time. Dr. Chu books each patient in 15 minute increments and is always being delayed since his appointments run longer 15 minutes. When I brought this to his attention, he took no responsibility but instead blamed it on his staff and government regulations (other doctors don’t seem to have this problem).
He also overpromises and under delivers. He sold me on a new pair of orthotics claiming he guaranteed they would solve my foot issues. After a month of tweaking and wearing the orthotics according to his instructions, it actually made my foot problems worse. The only thing positive I can say about Dr. Chu is that he was willing to try to make his uncomfortable orthotics better and tweak them for free upon follow-up visits, but this did not solve the problem and I had to wait each time to see him, even when promised I wouldn’t have to wait so long upon subsequent morning visits.
After 3 attempts to try to make the orthotics better which failed, I got tired of dealing (and waiting on) with him. Stay away!
Decent service - but questionnable business practice.
The doctor was friendly and was helpful. I was surprised that a simple foot sprain required more than a physical exam and x-ray. I was referred to do a CT scan, then more follow up exams. This is even after I told the clinic staff that the sprain was healing very nicely within a few days of the Dr. visit.
Also, the office staff was brusque when I asked about the cost of the treatment. Even though I have insurance, I felt it was my obligation to make sure the pricing was reasonable.
Later, I was scheduled for a next day appointment but when I called back saying I felt the appointment was unnecessary, I was told of a cancellation charge. When I protested that it was only hours before when they called and pushed the appointment, I was told the charge would be waived.
Weeks later, the cancellation charge showed up in the bill. When I called back to question the charge, instead of following through with the prior commitment, I was told the Dr.'s assistant was "overruled".
No calls to inform of this - just a bill that showed up. Lack of integrity and honesty in my book. This is not how i would run my business and I am sure most of you out there would question the ethics and integrity of a business where employees do not feel the obligation to honor their agreements.
So rather than dicker over a simple $25 charge, I will schedule my upcoming procedures with another clinic my family physician recommended. Oh you can be sure I will let UW Physicians know how I felt about this referral.
Friendly Staff, and DR. I felt welcome the moment I walked in. I was there for two ingrown toenails. The staff up front is very welcoming, and the nurse is very comforting. On my follow up visit, they called me by my first name when I came in. I love that! The Dr was very empathetic to my situation, and my anxiety about dr's.
Very good doctor. I took my son to see Amy for ingrown toenails on both feet. She took care of him quickly and effectively and she has a great personality. AS a mom, I turned sqeamish during the procedure and she made sure I was alright and got me some juice. Good with seniors and little ones.
