47.596931 -122.150143Not Quite Up To The Hype. I must say, the high ratings for this little place really had my interest peaked, but upon arrival, my heart practically sank. The food case (one of about 4 visible items upon entry that isn't a white wall) appeared to be the arctic tundra of food cases. There were, what, maybe 8 things to choose from, none of which seemed particularly exotic. The most original selection was the one marked "Today's Special", a cake with ultra thin layers of light (both in color and flavor) chocolate, frosted with a gelatinous and also astonishingly light strawberry mousse, and topped with lighter than air whipped cream. If you didn't get the picture, it was a VERY light cake (it did nothing for my hunger), especially considering that it was probably still about ten thousand calories. The only reason I gave them a score this high is because they really did live up to the "not-overly-sweet" claimes, and that it takes true talent to make a cake that is in fact as light as he one i had.
Yummy sweets!. Found this spot on my way to and from BCC. I'm addicted. This stuff is good! Nice place to unwind for 10-15 minutes and enjoy some cake.
Local Flavor. Great Mom and Pop shop for those looking to get away from commercial megastores. Whenever I visit a new place I always ask to eat somewhere local. My friend from UW took me here amongst other places. We sat at a small table and enjoyed a wonderful piece of light/fresh cake. The shop owner was extremely nice and the cake was delicious. I ate the chocofield (light chocolate cake with chocolate shavings on top). She had the strawberry cake. Fresh strawberries and fresh cream. Great delicate taste! Thanks Cake Fuji!
Exquisite Desserts!!.
Unlike your typical sugar doused sweets you find in "American style" sweets, Cake Fuji delivers the fine art of "desserts" as in after-meal sweets for delicate palette.
None of the cakes made here is overwhelmingly sweet. European style (Although the owner is Japanese) cakes made to be enjoyed as a dessert not candy.
