Now A Fan. My girlfriend got to pick the place and this is the place she picked. I am not a fan of indian food but have to admit this place was great. Now I will definatly have to go back.

Nothing amazing.. The food here was okay. It was nothing spectacular, but it wasn't horrible either. However, for the prices they were charging, I was expecting more.

The naan bread was pretty bland. It didn't have the unique flavor that restaurant naan bread normally has; it tasted a lot like the kind that you can just buy at a supermarket and bake in your home oven. This was a big disappointment for me, because naan bread is one dish I *always* look forward to at an Indian restaurant.

The curry dishes were okay. My friend and I each ordered a dish and they came out in two small bowls with one small bowl of rice. Needless to say, we ran out of rice. No one came by the check on us the entire time we were eating (~30 minutes?), and no one even came to refill my glass of water. The restaurant wasn't super busy either - there were only three other tables. Very poor service.

Unbelievable dining experience!. Very good food. Great atmosphere and very clean. All the staff were very helpful and give you a range of 1-6 to determine your hot/spicy preference. My wife and I found this restaurant after an exhaustive search looking for a place to stay while visiting Seattle. Little did we know we would find a deal on a room and unblievablely good Indian food while so far from home. We live in Calgary, Alberta Canada and often visit Glory of India and would rate the food for both as very comparable. This is a good thing considering Glory of India is a very well respected restaurant where we come from. People living close to India Gate Restaurant are quite lucky as well as the meal is about $20.00 cheaper then what we pay at home for the exact same dishes with equivalent ingredients and servings.

Great food..for those who care for quality Indian food. My wife is the best cook I know. We both are Indians and are hard critics.

We find it appaling that most Indian restaurants around here get away with such poor quality food.

India gate is one that exceeds *every* restaurant in this area.

These guys truly know how to cook Indian food. Good food, good ambience and service. Period.

This is one restaurant that we go to eat "tasty Indian food". Enough said.

Enjoy!

Best northindian food. This is my second review for any restuarant. Of the indian restaurants in Seattle i would call this one the best when it comes to taste, quality, quantity, ambience ,service etc. These guys know to cook. I being a good food critic can not deal with a fact that we don't get what we pay for. This one definitely justifies the money spent. Would highly recommend this to others.

Great Lunchtime Indian Buffet. Good value - new owners have made a big positive difference!. The new owners have made dramatic improvements at lunchtime.

My colleagues and I eat lunch here regularly, and it has gone from being "the only local place available" to being somewhere we choose to eat. The buffet lunch is good value, the service is attentive but not intrusive, and the food taste has improved out of all recognition.... the Tandoori Chicken no longer has the "charcoal starter" taste that was a feature for so long.

There always seems to be both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes aailable, and usually naan, salads and chutneys. There is usually a choice of desserts, too. All taste very good.

Former Great is Now Terrible. For many years, we enjoyed India Gate every 6 weeks or so. Their food was some of the best in the Seattle area. In fact, several other good Indian restaurants were started up by alumni from India Gate. Whenever we had a problem with the food back then, the problem was very minor, such as slightly underspiced vegetables. But sometime in the last year, the quality of the food at India Gate fell dramatically and swifty. In our last few visits, the food was almost inedible. At least some of the food had the appearance and taste of canned or microwaved food. It was apparent that others feel the same because we have never seen more than one table of diners during our recent visits. The service that was once so genuine and friendly is now diffident. We recently gave them one last try, hoping that things had improved. We were sorely disappointed. Most of the food went into the garbage. So, we are now reacquainting ourselves with some of the other Indian restaurants in Seattle and Bellevue and we will not visit India Gate again.

Used to be great. Now awful.. My wife and I used to enjoy coming to this restaurant now and then. We recently returned after a year or so, and everything had changed for the worse.

My wife's tikka masala chicken tasted like it was made from canned tomato soup. The raita was more like a small cup of milk with carrot chunks thrown in. Not creamy at all. The vegetable samosas tasted like they had been frozen and reheated.

This restaurant has obviously been taken over by new management, with a new chef. They need to change EVERYTHING they are doing, and fast, or they are going to lose a lot of customers.

What Happened?. My wife and I have been going to India Gate for over 2 year's. It has alway been our go to place because of the taste and quality and experience of the Indian food. . It's seem's as though recently the restaurant had undergoed a change in ownership. I say this only because when we went and got our usual meals they not only looked completly different but also tasted completly different. No creaminess, no spice and we ordered it spicy! And there seemed to be a lack of ingredients that used to play a major role in dish that was missing for example(vegatables in the Veggie Korma)(saffron in the rice)etc . This was very disappointing and we are having to look for another Indian restaurant, unfortunatly. But if you are in the mood for Indian food that resembles Italian food, then this is definetly the place for you!
