Great Selection, Great prices, Enthusiasts secret!.
I spent Christmas 2010 searching for the best place to buy my son's first Lionel set....I had quickly realized that middle aged women are not the typical train store customer.
The owner of this shop (unlike all the other train stores on the eastside) spent considerable time talking me out of the big purchase since my son was only 5. He also recommended local train clubs for my son, to introduce him to the hobby.
I brought my son by the shop later and he was completely mesmerized by the small working train display in the front window. The owner made me a great deal on old solid engine that could take a little boy's abuse, was running great, and looked great ($25). He also repaired some used train pieces I had bought elsewhere for less than half the other train store bid the work.
I did end up buying the expensive train set as a Santa gift (it was not as well loved as the old piece). And I'm going back to TP&A for all our other needs. For Christmas 2011, my little engineer needs more track. :) Thanks TP&A for solid advice, not treating me like an imbecile, and encouraging a whole new generation of train enthusiasts.....and at very competitive prices.
RIP OFF ARTIST.
Every time I have been in Steve's store, he always adds extra items to my total amount as if i am stupid or something. The last time I was there (last month, he added extra bottles of Floquil paint, and added 3 extra pieces of HO flex track, when I only had 2. I had only 9 items altogether, yet he charged me for 15! He has been doing this to people for many years!
