I love the Veggie Eggs Benedict! It's so nice to have this cafe nearby. Consistently good food and nice waitstaff.
NOT RECOMMEND. Food taste so horrible, service bad and i will never come back. So disappointed !!! don't have choice, i have to put star :((
Confused by listing. I wish citysearch would fix this listing so that reviewers would know where to post. Alexa's Cafe and Alexa's Catering are owned by the same company, but are entirely separate businesses.
AVOID THIS PLACE!.
She catered my wedding. The buffet looked wonderful but the food was only ok. The service was POOR! When we booked her, she said she would be onsite but brought in 2 young girls that she hired from a service and then left. These 2 girls had no idea what to do and overstepped their job! They opened up way too many bottles of wine, opened the boxes with the extra favors (fortune cookies that were dipped in frango mint chocolate) we set aside for family/ friends who could not attend and took full plates away when people were dancing. . .We had to be out of Monticello by 4 PM but my husband, a Monticello employee & I were that last out just befoe 2 PM. I asked for a partial refund for the unused hours, the poor service from the girls and for the fact she wasn't there as we agreed. It's less than a 10 min drive from Monticello to her cafe but she said the girls didn't get back until 3:30 pm! Monticello confirmed with her the time the reception ended. When I called her about the refund, she said she sent a check. Out of the $450 bill, she only refunded $17! ! But we also never received a check.
Be warned that if you use her catering, get everything detailed in writing and make damn sure signs it. Or she'll screw you!
WARNING! TERRIBLE CATERING!. How can you go wrong with sandwiches and dip? Well, Alexa's can! The fruit tray consisted of grapes--that's it; the "crostini" for the artichoke dip was just sliced baquette, not toasted, which resulted in a soggy mess; the salmon spread was so salty it was inedible; all this for over $1000! I was embarassed to have this food at my event and actually spent the night apologizing to my guests. You would do much better getting Safeway deli trays if you are looking for a simple sandwich & veggie spread.
Poor customer service. I stumbled upon this cafe and went a few times and the food was good. I went the last time a few weeks ago and the service was very slow. As said by a previous reviewer the condiments are like those you would find in a fast food restaurant or cheesy diner. The cost of the food is not worth the run-down decor and inconsistent service. The servers never seem to know who ordered what and how to run the register.
Just average. I agree with another reviewer that when you walk into this place the atmosphere is so homey that you think it could become your favorite breakfast spot. We ordered a coffee and a water and never got a refill on either even though they sat empty for a good 20 minutes. My husband ordered the bacon and cheddar scramble and we thought he had mistakenly received a half order when it came. But we checked with the waitress and she said it was a full order. I guess their scrambles come with about 2 eggs. My french toast was average and luke warm. Our breakfast experience was definitely not worth the $22 we paid. My quest for a good breakfast joint continues . . .
Perfect little homestyle cafe. Missed matched coffee mugs, chatty waitresses, delicious down-home comfort food? Bothell is lucky to have Alexa?s. Charming and quaint; I love this place.
It was just OK, not what you'd expect.
My wife and I went there on March 9 (Sunday). We were seated at the table with the two big easy chairs which I thought was very unique and comfortable. The atmosphere was alive with conversation and it felt very 'homey' and we figured we were in for a big treat. Well the coffee was 'run of the mill' (nothing special) and it didn't get any better after the coffee. I had a veggie scramble which was pretty good and the toast was from homemade bread it was good too. The potatoes were stale and tasteless. My wife had the lemon-poppyseed pancakes and after we'd read (here) about their great pancakes she was dissappointed. The concept of lemon-poppyseed pancakes was a good one but they just missed the mark and the syrup was cheap (the kind you'd expect to see in a Denny's).
As a matter of fact there were a lot of Denny's-esque features; the butter came in those little sealed packages, the jams also came sealed. These are not necessaarily bad things but when you have to wait 20+ minutes for your breakfast and you are paying premium prices you expect something special. You don't expect bad coffee and cheap condiments and pancakes that weren't quite right.
Great concept but less than average food at premium prices with slow service doesn't make it a place we will ever go back too. Especially when the Maltby Cafe is close to here.
Best Cafe Anywhere!. This place is fabulous. The food is so under-rated I almost hate to write this review because I want to keep this place all to myself. The tomato basil soup is 100% addictive; I crave it at the most random times and is delicious. The breakfasts are fantastic, the coffee is hot, and you can usually get in and out of there extremely quickly. We are very thankful to have discovered this little gem! Best part - usually no wait on the weekends!
