CULINARY INSULT. I used a Groupon to try this place out. Despite the discount, the low-quality, bizarre, slum-chic concoctions put out by the 'chef' (poor attempts at a Mexican version of nouvelle cuisine?) - together with the abysmal service (for which I had no choice but to reward with a 20% service charge of full price slapped onto my remaining balance) - left me feeling roundly ripped off at the end of the experience.

Both dishes - a 'Cielo, Mar y Tiera' appetizer and a 'Fillete Gomez' entree (inc. "sautéed skirt steak, mushroom, onion, bell pepper") - sounded interesting. WRONG.

The entree comprised a chilled avocado sauce poured over a steaming hot skirt steak, then placed on a lukewarm mixture of mushrooms and onions, mixed with cool, raw bell pepper slices (not "sautéed"). I found the mixture of ingredients clearly cooked (or UN-cooked) separately of each other and subsequently thrown together to be a culinary insult.

The appetizer was a similar disaster comprising a muddle of cool shredded chicken, lukewarm shrimp, and warm chorizo mixtures plopped onto hard, greasy, fried-flour discs - absolute SWILL!!! I can only conclude the more favorable reviews are posted by people who have never tasted true, quality Mexican cuisine.

If I could have given a HALF STAR rating I would have... and this only for this place somehow defying all odds and still being in business.

GREAT FOOD & FANTASTIC MARGARITAS!. I usually don't write reviews however the last review was so horrible I just had to write. It is true the salsa isn't anything special however so many of their dishes are great and they make the absolute best margaritas. We usually have Don Julio which is only $7.50 and a good size drink. Most restaurants give you poor quality wine for the same price. We found that the less expensive enchiladas and burritos ($12)were better than the fancier dishes and you get a lot of food. The Mole Poblano Enchilada is to die for. The sauce is fantastic.

Avoid the place. Nothing positive about the restaurant other than the decor and perhaps the live musician!

The food is absolutely bland - sucked out of any flavor. A Mexican restaurant without a signature salsa is unthinkable and somehow this place has managed to do that.

Service is pathetic - not because they aren't hard working but because they don't have enough people to do the chores.

Very Authentic. I was very pleased. This was a wonderful experiance. I loved the menu!!!! There were stories with every dish. I would definatly go back. Too bad the location is remote.

Best in Seattle area. Excellent food. Anything with their chipole sauce is especially good. I would go there just for their rice and beans.

Gormet Mexican. Frida's is truly a different dining experience. Most other Mexican restaraunts are just a 'me-too' experience. Look for coupons, they often have buy one meal, get one free... Even without coupons, their prices are similar to Azteca, but the atmosphere is much nicer and the food is great!
