In Short – A favorite of neighborhood locals and tourists alike, this quiet restaurant is located in quaint downtown Edmonds just blocks from the waterfront. The dining room is small but cozy wih big windows facing the street for customers to watch shoppers and ferry-goers pass by. Most of the food is classic Northwest fare, including salmon omelets for breakfast and plates of grilled seafood at dinner.
Quaint little spot with one drawback

My husband and I were visiting some friends this weekend in Edmonds and we all decided to stop at Chanterelle. It's a very charming, old style building that was very inviting and friendly and after a day of non-stop shopping we were all famished! The atmosphere was great and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. Our lunches were very tasty and the coffee was rich and delicious and it was a great way to cap off a perfect day. However, as we were finishing our meals, something happened that left a very sour taste in all our mouths. A very loud and inappropriate vulgar statement came from the kitchen. I won't repeat what was said only that it was laced with the F-word and offensive to those with alternative lifestyles which includes our dear friends. Several others around us also heard this as we looked at one another with what can only be describe as shock. We paid our bill and left. I certainly hope the owners of this fine establishment reads this review and takes some sort of action to prevent this from happening again. They have such a diamond in the rough and it would be a shame to have such a smear preventing it from being the success that it could be. I would recommend Chanterelle to everyone, but ask for a seat away from the mouth in the kitchen.
- Pros: Charming building w/ a great staff
- Cons: One very loud mouth
Best breakfast in Edmonds, Mixed for Dinner

We've had breakfast at Chantrelle's several times and every time it is outstanding. The food is delicious, good coffee and good service. We decided to try them for dinner for New Year's Eve. The service was excellent, but we ordered an appetizer that was way too salty. Our entrees both came with what the menu said was risotto. Instead of risotto, it was rice pilaf with succotash vegetables. I would expect this side dish from Denny's. However, our entrees themselves were fantastic. My husband had the scallops and I had the chicken in pastry. Both dishes were perfection. My chicken in pastry was something I would imagine a world class chef would make. Overall, I would recommend Chantrelle's, just skip the risotto.
- Pros: breakfast, coffee, service, prices
- Cons: Risotto
Best Downtown Edmonds Eating

Chanterelle in Edmonds is a MUST place to dine when in Edmonds. With it?s warm yellow and woodsy interior in one of Edmonds historic buildings, it is updated, hip, and almost funky with an espresso bar, large dessert showcase and a wall of wines. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Favorites are their large salad entrees, the (best) fish tacos, and the cioppino ? a real treat on a cold wet day.
On my last visit I had the chicken panini with brie and chutney - an excellent choice. It was accompanied by either soup or one of four salads. I chose the spinach salad with mushrooms, asiago cheese and almonds, dressed in a light, fragrant dressing. My companion had the chicken quesadilla and raved about it. Although we had no room for dessert, the selection was tempting and is something to look forward to on our next visit.
Anyone looking for great food, a varied menu, good taste and price should make Chanterelle a regular dining spot. If you are lucky to get a table by the front window, you have a view of the water and you are always right in the heart of downtown Edmonds. So, walking around before or after your meal makes for a perfect day. Bon Appetit!
- Pros: Great Food

Great food and atmosphere with reasonable prices!

It had been several months since my husband and I have dined at Chanterelle Restaurant in Edmonds but we were back last week, wondering what took us so long to get back! In a world of cookie cutter chain restaurants and high end (read big bucks) trendy places, Chanterelle definitely fills the gap, and nicely so. From one of the owners greeting us at the door, to a personable young server we have seen there before, to a nice eclectic meets 'old world' decor, we reminded ourselves that this is one of our favorite places to go. And that's before we even began dinner! We looked over the wine list and were really happy to see that almost all of the bottles, about 50 choices I think, were under $30. It was so nice to not have to limit ourselves to just a few bottom rung ones. We chose a wine I saw written up recently called Fleur de Chardonnay and completely enjoyed it. I love to try new and different things, and there is always a new three course special sheet with different dishes at really reasonable prices. I started with the tomato bisque (gotta have it whenever I go there, it's sooo good), then a tossed green salad. I chose the fish special which was salmon with some kind of Thai red curry sauce with a slaw with lots of fresh cilantro and mint. It was light and flavorful, the perfect choice for a warm summer night. My husband is not as adventurous as I am in his choices which works out fine here too, because there are lots of classics like steak and shrimp, lasagne, etc. He actually got the lamb shank which was huge and tender, with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. Next time I think I might just get one of their big entree salads. We saw a lot of them going out, they have really unique preparations, not just the usual three or four you see everywhere.
Afterward dinner we splurged on some dessert (white chocolate coconut cake, yum!) and latte's. We promised ourselves we won't wait too long before we go back!
- Pros: Nice selection of different types of foods and wines.
- Cons: Too many good choices, I can never decide what to have!
