From the East Coast.
A co-worker and myself were in town from the East coast attending a week long class. Being from out of town and completely unfamiliar with the area we located our hotel (Holiday Inn) close to where we were attending class. We stumbled onto The Keg Monday night and were impressed immediately. The keg was less than one mile from where we stayed and basically right on the main strip in Kent.
When we first arrived we grabbed a drink at the bar. The atmosphere was classy yet casual, they carried top shelf liquor and the drinks were not watered down like you would find in other establishments.
I had no idea The Keg was a franchise and nothing in the establishment led me to think otherwise. The steaks were some of the very best quality I have ever had, I can fairly say this because we went back to The Keg on Wednesday night and tried different cut. The first night I had the "New York" and the second night I had the "fillet", both were outstanding in flavor and no fat or grizzle to speak of. I had planned to stop in again that Friday night to complement the staff before I left but our flight plans had changed and we had to get going.
The waitresses were extremely friendly and carried themselves well, ours were easy to strike up a conversation with. Our waitress a California native was outstanding, intelligent and beautiful...a total catch!
The Keg gets a 10 out of 10 from me.
Kent Keg now closed.
Looks like this is one of the Kegs that is closed.
Nearest Keg is now in Renton, near Younker Nissan off 167.
The Bartender at the Keg in Kent.
I've been to a number of Kegs before and they're all essentially very good. This one, however, was quite different. My girlfriend and I came in a little late on a Sunday night and sat in the bar/lounge area (because the bar was pretty packed) and had the most amazing service by the Bartender named 'Mitch'.
He was extremely busy with all the customers but still treated us like we were the most important guests in the house. I've never experienced such genuinely good service as a first time customer anywhere and I've done more than my share of traveling both here and abroad.
I can't wait to go back again.
