Go if you like Burnt Ribs
by shellielb at Citysearch
We went to HD Hotspurs last night and it was awful.
It was over 80 degrees outside and the restaurant must be trying to save money because it was just as hot inside. The waitress was ok, not rude but not much of a personality. We ordered ribs and they were burnt, so burnt, you could not cut into them and there was little meat. When we let our waitress know, she took them to the kitchen. We were sitting next to the open kitchen and one of the cooks said ?oh well, that is the way they are?. The waitress said they can cook something else but all the ribs are prepared the same way. So, for future patrons?.your ribs will be burnt.
The manager came to our table and said he thought the ribs look wonderful and he would eat them (think he may need glasses?) We asked for him to bring our food back to the table so we could demonstrate how the knife could not cut into the ribs and so we could scrape the charcoal off. He still said that is the way they are cooked. He went on to say that we could order something other than ribs but that is what we came for, so we declined. He never once apologized or showed any customer service skills. He definitely acted like we were full of it.
The staff needs to take some cooking and customer service classes.

I made reservations for 5:30 on a Monday for a party of 13. 6 of us walked in at the same time and were not greeted by any staff. the rest of our party came in and we waited another 10 minutes. The tables were situated so that no one could mingle. The tables should have been moved out and joind together so we felt like the family we are instead of strangers. The waiter was good. drinks were prompt but we had to ask for butter and honey for one of the tables. Also had to ask for the honey ladder trick. We ordered starters. Mushroom neptune, I have had better and have made them better my self. Blooming onion, undercooked hardly any batter served with sour cream or BQ sauce?? We like horse radish dip other places have. Corn bread and salad were good but skimpy on the dressings. Waiters came to clear salad plates before we were done and we felt rushed. We were there to celebrate and socialize, It was Our parents 41st anniversary. The main course came and my dads steak was raw and full of grissle, he did not eat it. I ordered the oink oink and received the wrong meal. Brisket instead of chicken. The waiter offered to fix it on the bill. Desert was great. The restuarant was empty except for us but the bar was full. Our bill for two people which included two dinners- three starters- three bar drinks and two deserts was 139.00. They added $19.00 for gratuity not us. The food was ok but not worth the price. It was clean.
Will never go there again or recommend it.

We went on a Sunday and was seated promptly. Even though this is a 40 mins. drive for us, I definitely wouldn't hesitate making another trip. This was my first time and I was thoroughly impressed with the service and the food (smells soooo good walking in the door). My other half had the New York Steak and I had the Steak and Chicken. OMG...The Top Sirloin was, in my opinion, BETTER than the New York! Everything was cooked to perfection the first time. The cornbread with "Mile High" honey is awesome! The house vinegarette salad dressing along with the endless salad bowl was great! So much food unfortunately didn't have room for dessert :-( This restaurant is A++++!!
- Pros: great food, terrific service
