Poor Knowledge and Unprofessional Technicians. I went in on a Saturday to have an aftermarket Ipod adapter installed in my 2006 Lexus GS300 and it was promptly installed on but didn't work according to the manufacturers' specifications (i.e. my Ipod was supposed to be able to be controlled through my car's audio system, including the steering wheel controls). Once I discovered that the playlist and song text was not displaying at all, I took the product back in on Sunday. They checked the installation and indicated that they had done everything right and that the product just probably didn't work with my car in that fashion. My car is a 2006 and the product clearly indicated it would work in a 2006 to display text of playlists and songs. The salesperson informed me that he checked the inside door of my car and that since it was actually manufactured in 2005, the product wouldn't work...this was laughable. I said okay and that we should check with the manufacturer, VAIS, on Monday when they were open. He assured me that they would check it out, but that in all likelihood it was only going to be plug and play and that since he checked out the manual and was convinced my car was actually a 2005 that it would not work (even though his techs were very familiar with this product). I found his response unconvincing and called VAIS first thing Monday morning. Their technical support laughed when I told them my experience and just said, "take you car back and tell them to call me, it will work with your car as is indicated in our manual." So, Monday I'm back at CarToys (my third day in a row) and frankly I'm as tired of seeing them as they are me, but I knew the product would work due to my research and tenacity (calling VAIS for myself). Lo' and behold, once they figured out that they actually had to follow the manual for installation, the product worked exactly as it was designed.
