Editorial Review for Spud Fish & Chips – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
A short walk from the water, this is the perfect warm picnic for cooler sunny days. These family-owned fish-and-chip joints specialize in ling cod, although halibut, salmon, oysters, scallops, clams, prawns, popcorn shrimp, and even chicken are on the menu. There are some freebies, such as garlic vinegar and Tabasco for the asking, but when it comes to tartar sauce, expect to cough up another 17 cents.

Today, on 6/26/08 at about 9:15PM while riding my bike past Juanita Beach some little boy who looked to be closing shop inside of Spuds Fish n' Chips thought it would be funny to get on the intercom, which projects outside, and tell me that I'm gay. "Yeah, you on the bike. You're a h*mo [this site will not let me write the word]. You're bike is gay." Not that I am, but what if I were? Is this how Spuds wants to represent itself? I know I won't give them any more of my business, and that's too bad too because I have for 33 years and I hope you won't either. Oh, and I did go back to see if the little boy would talk. The little sh*t would not come out. He only snickered from behind the counter and locked door.

Better to go to this place on a sunny day because seating is limited inside. The staff is a little flaky because they are all in highschool. We ended up with 1 extra order because they didn't know we took ours when they already called it (so that's a plus). It's a little over priced, but that's what you get in kirkland.

Pros: good food, nice location

Cons: flaky staff, limited seating, overpriced.
