Chef/owner Holly Smith's regard for ingredients is apparent and a frequently changing menu ensures everything is at its peak. Foie gras is paired with nectarines; a dish of local chanterelles is tangled in tagliatelle and enhanced with marjoram. Smith's dishes--such as a thick, rare hunk of lamb paired with a turnip gratin--are both comfortably familiar and innovative. From the sweetbreads to the fried razor clams, there is plenty to try.

The hype is true. Cafe Juanita is worth every penny spent. The food is fabulous, the preparations well thought out, the staff are knowledgable and polite. The food is always delicious and I have never had a poor meal. Ever. The desserts are perfectly sized, just enough to enjoy every morsel, but not enough to stuff you and leave you uncomfortable. Holly Smith is always visible and friendly enough to say hello on a special occasion. We are lucky enough to get gift certificates every year on our anniversary to this amazing spot, and we wouldn't change up our routine anytime soon. This will continue to be our anniversay spot every year. Amazing!!

Cafe Juanita was warmly recommended to us as a really special restaurant. So, I reserved a table a month ahead to celebrate both my husband 's birthday and our 15th anniversary and I made sure they knew it was a special occasion. First ,we had trouble parking because the restaurant 's small parking was full. Second and more importantly, they gave us a table beside the open kitchen (imagine the clatter of plates and the somewhat loud interactions between the kitchen staff: I couldn't hear the waitress when she was telling us about the specials). Not very romantic...Even my husband, who is a very easy going person, commented on the table 's location. The staff was great and so was the wine list. The food was good and sophisticated but not excellent. My husband took the rabbit and didn't like its very salty crust. My Chanterelle risotto was good but I have had much better ones in several other local restaurants. My beet salad was excellent though. To conclude, good restaurant but not worth the money we paid for it.
