Way overpriced; horrible staff
by echeshier at Citysearch
$42 walking rate is just way overpriced for this short course. Also, the staff at this course extremely rude. Here's the story. My buddy and I were on the 17th hole. All of the sudden, a member of the staff comes flying down the hill in a cart and proceeds to yell at us at the top of his lungs for having our cart too close to the green.
Now, our cart was parked about 20 yards from the green, so our bad on that because of the 30 yard rule. However, this guy was so rude to us we were in shock! The proper way to talk to a paying customer would be: "Excuse me sirs, your cart is a little close to the greens it would be great if you could stay 30 yards back. Thanks"
Needless to say, I won't be returning to Elk Run and I recommend you avoid it as well, unless you feel like getting screamed at by the staff there.
What a great course

Wow...what a nice course! A little short, but real nice fairways and greens with bunkers guarding most every green. The greens are very well maintained and the fairways are cut short down the center with true ruff on the sides. This is not a great course for beginners if you need a boost in confidence, but it will steepen your learning curve real fast. Lots of fun holes and great hotdogs at the turn!
4 stars for the course and 5 for the price.
- Pros: Greens, fairways and price
- Cons: A little short
Lush

Whenever I conjure up an image in my mind of Elk Run, I see lush green fairways.....they must have great irrigation out there. This is a fun and beautiful course to play. Staff is very professional, which I like. Great practice green too. All holes are challenging! I love the setting.
- Pros: Setting
- Cons: The powerlines on the back nine detract from its beauty; you can hear the static electricity
