Redmond >Victor's Celtic Coffee Co
Great Coffee, Great Location.
Want the real thing? If you do, drive past the drive thru at Starbucks and other national or regional "fast-coffee" type shops.
Great palce to relax and enjoy your break in this retro style plain and simple coffee shop.
Pleanty of room to spreaf out and relax. I think thier NO CREDIT OR ATM CARDS approach is cool too.
Good Coffee, Nice Staff, Terrible Customer Servicer=owner.
I've been going to Victors for almost a decade and I've had my up and downs with the place.
The staff has always been friendly and conversational with me. I've had some run ins with the owner, who yes, is a super grump!
However, I've been going in the late afternoons and evenings, which apparently is when he doesn't work and I recommend going then!
This morning, I meet a friend there to do some planning (we're teachers) and he was running the show. We were in the back corner of the shop and he would repeatably, and awkwardly walk by us, mostly staring. Although one time, he came by because he didn't like that my feet were touching the chair next to me and asked me to keep my feet on the ground (weird!) and then he swooped by within the hour to remind us that we were there longer than an hour and it was time to for us to leave.....we left, but there were only a few people in the shop!
If I go to Victor's, I will only go in the evenings when he is not working!
I should have believed the negative reviews....
A sign hangs next to the menu that states: “I can please one person a day. Today is NOT YOUR DAY. Tomorrow doesn’t look good either.” Most small businesses I know of probably wouldn’t hang a sign like this. I assumed it was meant in jest, but after my experience it seems apparent that this is more of an operating manual for the owner. After reading a few negative reviews of Victor’s, I dismissed the comments as coming from reviewers that are chronic haters and decided to try Victors myself. Apparently, I wasn’t the one person who could be pleased on this day.
Let me start by saying, the barista’s were nice and polite, and actually seemed ashamed to explain the internet policies of the owner of Victors. After taking my Americano to a table and settling in for some work on my laptop, I was greeted by a man who told me I needed to remove my backpack that I had next to me on the bench. He then grabbed the chair on the opposite side of the table and forcefully shoved it into my knee! It really hurt! Socially inept, or totally unaware, he continued through the seating area and seemed to have similar conversations with a few other “violators” who dared patronize his café.
As far as the coffee, my double shot Americano was terribly under-extracted. I watched as the barista pulled the shot in well under 10 seconds. They have all the equipment on the counter to grind, dose, tamp, and pull a great shot, so I suppose it is poor training or lack of quality control. I don't know if the beans they roast in house are any good as the barista killed the shot.
I will probably never return to Victors coffee, which is sad as Redmond seems to have a lack of good non-chain coffee options.
I've spent too many of my after school hours here. I guess there are reasons for that. Mainly that it's the closest resemblance to the Mos Eisley Cantina on Earth (other than the music). Seriously, where the cantina band at?
Go here, get nudged, go dece, staty dece.
It was April 20th the first day my friends and I came to Victor's. Up until that day, Victor's had been the place where my family and I would drop in after mass or after a family outing and indulge in a Roma or Ticino sandwich.
I can't really say enough about the interesting people that hang there, just that from the weird dudes that get off the 545, to the elite of the Redmond Youth there's always a conversation to be had, a chess game to be played, or any major credit card to be denied. Seriously, that's super inconvenient. Also that sandwiches are expensive, but I think worth it.
TOMATO SOUP WHERE YOU AT
I think people are pretty accurate on Walter, although he's been really nice to me personally and always charming in my opinion, I guess he's a pretty intense dude. The rest of the employees are really great to talk to, and being somewhat of a regular bears its' fruit in the form of free size upgrades and not-on-the-menu drinks.
SNICKERS WHERE YOU AT
Anyway, check it out. Don't be a hard customer and the vibes of the coffeehouse will ensure your spirit's warmth and satisfaction.
I have been going to victors twice a week for about a year now, great staff, and great coffee. I spend about $12 every time I visit, so thats like $1240 per year! But after today i will never be going there again.
Almost every high ranking review that you see here is probably from when the original owner(Victor) was in charge. But since then, a huge TROLL named WALTER has taken control and is driving this place into the ground! After ordering the usual I sat down at a small table with two chairs, as soon as I begin open my book the TROLL comes over and asks me to move to a smaller table in the corner! WTF!?!?! I just spent 12 dollars on a sandwich an a small latte and your telling me to sit in a corner with no lighting? Then he says remember only 1 hour, then you've got to leave. That was the last straw.
I really hate to say it but by going to victors your supporting this TROLL and his crazy view on how to treat customers.
If your still looking for a good cup of coffee i would head over to soul food books, great people, good vibe, and NO TROLLS!
Treated like Crap BY THE OWNER!.
I've heard that the owner of Victor's (Walter) is a kinda mean, but I always thought it was just "their schtick". However, this morning I found out that it's not only "not their schtick" but it's likely to be their eventual downfall.
I cannot see (in this economy or any other) how a grumpy, old menace to society like this can stay in business (let alone succeed and expand several times). He's mean, he's a total tightwad (disables the electrical outlets so that you can't plug your laptop in). He came over when I was trying to find one that worked and told me that he doesn't allow people to plug in and work (he doesn't supply wireless which is fine, but I have a Clearwire modem, so I don't require that).
Good coffee, check! Great breakfast sandwiches, check! Very nice staff, Double-Check. A total ogre for an owner, CHECKMATE!
I'll never go back there until he either sells it or kicks the bucket!.
It's time for Redmond to stand against being treated like dirt. Victor's staff knows how to do it, maybe they could teach their owner a few things!
Excellent coffee, great pastries, best breakfast. I think the breakfast sandwich is the best deal in town. It is tasty and filling. I love the coffee and the pastries (danish and almond twist)
Most improffesional buisness I've ever been to.... Victor's actual coffee is pretty good, but not really worth it. I don't go there anymore because of the way the owner treats the employees and customers. You should see the looks on these kids faces when he's there. They are all scrambling to do their best while he yells and grabs things out of their hands. Isn't that abusive? Aren't there laws about that? I wish I could scoop them all up and open a new shop! My friends and I don't go back there anymore, he's kicked some of us out on several occasions. Bad ownership, but great employees!
Owner intimidating a young petite young woman he thought was alone.. I was just at Victors with a friend. We ordered our coffee, and I walked to the restroom just in time to hear the owner go to my female friend and a little abrasively tell her that he has a time limit and she needed to leave. I went on my way knowing that my friend would clear up his mistake since we had just ordered. When I came back from the restroom about a minute to two minutes later. I saw my friend walk up and tell him "We had just ordered, but that was extremely uncalled for so we wont be comming back". She walked out and he followed her out screaming at her! He caught up and blocked her car door while he continued to scream at this 110 lbs female. She couldnt open the door and get in the car until I got there and drew his attention away. Intimidating a petite young woman who he thought was alone is unacceptable. What a bully! I will never go back.
