Editorial Review for Pacific Northwest Costume – by Nicole Christie

The Scene
In 1981, Sherrill Mendoza began designing costumes in a little house; three years later, she was running a full-fledged business. But one thing that's never changed is her commitment to service with a personal touch: Tucked away at the back of the store are hundreds of costumes available for rent--from angels to Zorro--all handmade by Mendoza. Packaged costumes are also available for purchase, along with a vast selection of accessories--hats, wigs, magic tricks and an impressive array of theatrical makeup.

The Goods
One-day rentals run from $5 to $55, which includes costume cleaning. A $20-$40 deposit (depending on the costume) is taken upon reservation and forfeited if you cancel. However, if you decide you'd rather be Elvis than an Egyptian, Mendoza will exchange your costume at no charge.
