The coupon stated: One Free Dinner Entree with a purchase of a Dinner Entree of equal or lesser value. We purchased 2 dinner entree's of the same value ($11.20) and a side of fried rice ($7.99). Instead of getting the second dinner entree for free, they decided that the coupon only qualified for the fried rice as an "entree". The waitress was extremely rude and nasty about it and refused to do anything to accommodate us. My friend came down with food poisoning 10 minutes after we left. This ranks as the worst restaurant service experience I've ever had.
Good food... but expensive and (sometimes) bad service.
I have been a regular at the restaurant for the past 2 years or so, usually coming in for lunch. The lunch menu is quite varied and a great value, where you get a good-portioned entree, rice, soup, a couple of their crispy wontons and tea $5.95-$7.95 depending on what you order.
However, I went here tonight for dinner and things change pretty drastically outside of lunch hour.
The prices are quite high, even for Redmond, for pretty much anything on the dinner menu. Nothing is under $10, with all beef and poultry running $11-13 and seafood $13-15 a plate.
That being said, the flavor is pretty good and portion sizes are above average, so you will most likely take some home for another meal. I had the Happy Family platter tonight which is a combination of meats, seafood and vegetables and it was prepared well.
Although the service during lunch is generally very good, I had the worst service I have had in recent memory when I came for dinner. The waitress (the same one that works lunch on most weekdays), took a very long time to come around to place our order, and when we were ordering, she apparently saw the Entertainment book coupon I was planning on using sitting there on the table.
I was planning to order a combination dinner with my friend, and right in the middle of my order she raises her voice and says, pretty much verbatim,
"I SEE YOU COUPON! YOU USE COUPON, ONLY ORDER FROM MAIN DISH! EVERYBODY ORDER MAIN DISH!"
So although the coupon was a simple, buy-one, get-one free deal, she was adamant that NOBODY in our party of four could order a single-person dinner or combination, though it said nothing of the sort.
She was talking so loud and directly, the table across from us was staring.
I don't know what her problem was, but this experience alone made it so I never want to come back even though I have come here at least 20 times in the past year and had this same server multiple times with no issue.
And when we left our money to pay for the check, my friend gave a fairly generous tip (much more than she deserved with the service) and he said "I don't need any change."
99% of waitresses would have at least said "thank you" or something, she replied with just a "mhmm" and walked off.
I hope nobody has to ever experience the piss poor service I did at Peking Chinese Restaurant.
But in short, the food is worth a try, the lunch specials are a good value. Just hope the waitress doesn't have a stick up her ass.
Poor Quality, High Price.
If you are a fan of Almond Boneless chicken or Wonton soup I would recommend skipping this one. Chicken was tasty, but there was hardly any meat. Basically miniscule slices of meat with loads of breading. The wonton soup was not at all to my liking, though to be fair this could be a personal preference thing.
Most upsetting part was a single order of chicken, rice, and soup for takeout came to a whopping $21. Maybe their lunch prices are more reasonable, but at this price, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
perfect for any outing.
If you're looking for any place to go, either it be a birthday, date, meeting, etc. Peking is great because they have prompt service always. Food comes immediately. Theres a good variety of different Chinese foods on the menu, all for a good price.
Fish tank is very entertaining!
I had the experience of going for a friends birthday and they gave out free fried icecream and sang for my friend! We even had a picture taken, it was very cute and generous!
i also went for a meeting with 6 coworkers, we also got fried icecream as a thank you service, its delicious!
Great Meal for Two (w/ huge doggy bag) for $37..
Got the Family choice combo for two.
Came with choice of soup, rice, appetizer platter, vegetable chow mein, with choice of entrees from the main menu, one per person.
Hot & Sour soup, not as sour as we like, but vinegar was on the table as a condiment.
Appetizer platter included tempura shrimp, crab-rangoon, bbq pork, eggroll, fried wontons & shrimp chips.
All was excellent except the bbq pork was not as flavorful or juicy as we like.
Veggie chow mein was Delicious and Plentiful.
General Tao's chicken was very tasty... sauce was not as heavy as many places and was tangy with chips of garlic.
Orange Beef was excellent... some of the best we've had. Batter was light and the dish was not greasy at all. The sauce was both tart & rich. Slivers of fried orange was a nice added element.
Jasmine tea was tasty.
Service was exemplary!
Very Average.... Placed order for take-out... ordered General Tso Chicken, Beef & Chicken Fried Rice and Shrimp, Beef & Chicken Chow Mein... portions were fairly small... so small in fact thought I did not receive entire order when they brought my bag to the counter... General's chicken was fairly tasty, by far the best of the three... chow mein noodles are like spaghetti (too thick) and much onion flavor in the dish... rice was just not so flavorful, not bad but not very good at all... too expensive for what you get... there is definitely better on the Eastside.
Peking - Fast Value. The food is great for the price--and the portions are huge. Have gone there with groups before and the service slows a bit but not too bad.
WOW. This is some of the richest and well made chinese cuisine I have ever had! The atmosphere is great. It's laid back and the fish tank is loads of entertainment. Great origional desserts
Hot and Sour Soup is Great. Go there at Lunch, get one of the combos and enjoy the Hot and Sour Soup. Sometimes I just order some rice and Hot and Sour soup. Mongolian beef is also good but other than that it's average.
