Editorial Review for Willows Run Golf Club – by Dan MacMillan
The Courses
The main courses--Coyote Creek and Eagle's Talon--are mostly flat, but can be difficult. If it's just brushing up on your game that you're after, stick to the 9-hole Heron Links or the 18-hole Rainbow Run putting course (great for novices, kids or folks on a casual date). Of course, there's always the driving range. This one is nicer than most, counting a wide roof in the among its amenities.
The Experience
Execs buzz by after work to sneak in a round (Microsoft, after all, is just around the corner). The pro shop sells medium- to high-end clubs and other golf gear. Banquet facilities and a restaurant keep the place humming.

Yardage: 6,915/6,375/1,107

I've played Willows about 20 times (close to work in Redmond) but had a string of bad experiences recently. Most people know Willows Run courses play S-L-O-W. I usually play Eagle's Talon and I've had 6+ hour rounds. Apparently Double_J thinks that is not a big deal but when it plays slower than Bellevue Muni, it makes you wonder what the management's priority is. Second, their rangers are ineffective and unusually rude for a level of course where you expect to be treated with common courtesy. One ranger is specific was completely rude, demanding and yelling at my foursome to play faster when the foursome behind us complained. This was on Saturday afternoon when Willows is known for 6 hour rounds: Our group could have played left handed and still keep up with the slow moving groups ahead of us. I told the ranger he better back off and don’t grandstand just to satisfy a group that complained the loudest and told him Willow's GC rangers don't know how to keep the rounds to less than 5 hours (wouldn’t that be nice.) Anyhow, the ranger got in my face like he was duke it out. Simply, proof was in the pudding: That round took almost 6 hours to finish even with my “slow” group waiting 5~10 minutes to before hitting every shot. After finishing the round, I complained to the assistant pro who was working the counter at the pro shop to post a complaint against the ranger. The pro looked at me and said tersely, "You can't play 4 hour rounds here on weekends." Letters to the pro and the management has never been responded. So much for a “championship caliber golf course complex.” There are plenty of other courses (Oki courses in particular) that are managed well and affords golfers enjoyable time. My foursome will no longer play Willows Run.
Pros: Scenery
Cons: Pace of play (5~6+ hour rounds standard on weekends), rude staff

It boggles the mind how lame the managment can be. It seems all they care about is trying to make a dime and refuse to take a hard look at the customer experience. Good luck.
