We have boarded our 3-yr-old lab at Kozy Kennels twice since we moved to this area. His first stay was for one night, and it went well. The second time we boarded him, it was during the power outages last winter. We got back earlier than expected from our trip, so we picked him up a day early to their surprise. Their power was out when we arrived, so they had a generator running (which was great). However, I found out that they had sprayed our dog with a hose for disciplining. Our lab is a trained hunt dog, who religiously obeys the "Sit" command, so I was very disappointed to find they discipline dogs with a hose instead of using voice commands. I am sure some dogs can tolerate hose discipline, but our dog was shaking wet with his tail tucked under when they brought him to the front. He also didn’t even get excited to see us like other times. Thus, we found that (for some) Kozy Kennels isn’t so kozy after all.

Pros: Fair prices for Redmond area

Cons: Unacceptable disciplining methods

We've used Kozy Kennels a few times now and have been pretty happy with them. However, this last time, they nickel-and-dimed us for everything. $15/day extra for a 30-minute walk; an extra $4 each time we wanted our dog to receive medication; $20 extra for the "daycare" option, which allows your pup to lounge in their "family room" environment, complete with couches and TVs. For an indoor dog, this can make the difference between a comfortable stay or a traumatic one, so I really didn't feel like I could opt out. But these services really add up! The kennel fees cost almost as much as our vacation! I am now looking for another kennel because I feel like they are going overboard with all these extra costs. It's a shame because it has been a nice kennel. I'm very disappointed in these additional fees.

Pros: Environment, Seem to treat dogs OK

Cons: Extra fees to make life bearable for your pooch
