In Short – Airy, industrial decor lends a lighter, more urban feel to Gordon Biersch than most beer halls. The bar may get crowded after 5pm, when a happy-hour crowd hoists a few pints of seasonal Bavarian-influenced beers. A menu of fusion and New American dishes include beer-friendly offerings like shrimp and chicken pot stickers, Moroccan-spiced lamb chops and the signature garlic french fries.

Bad service, rude waitstaff, average food

by rookie_food_critic

We went to Gordon Biersch after we saw the restaurant was full every time we passed by it. First of all, after sitting down,we had to wait 10-15 minutes for anyone to notice us. It took them another 15 minutes to bring our drinks.. Sadly, the beer was hardly worth the wait, it was really watered down and so were their cocktails (cosmopoliton). To their credit, they brought the appetizer (southwestern egg rolls) quick and it was actually good. Encouraged by that, we were eagerly waiting for dinner, which of course was a disappointment. We ordered a pasta and a veggie pizza, both lacked any kind of flavor. And finally, when we were getting out, one of the waitress blocked my path, did not move for 2-3 minutes or apologize. Needless to say, I am not going back there again.

Why eat Farm Raised Salmon in the Northwest?

by pilleated

This restaurant is serving farm raised salmon instead of wild salmon. Farm raised salmon has been shown to contain high levels of toxins like PCB. The salmon are fed 'salmon chow' that, among other things (which are a guarded secret), contains a coloring agent to make the salmon pink. Above all, salmon farming hurts the environment and is a serious threat to the wild salmon of the pacific northwest. It's not like wild salmon isn't available, especially here in the northwest. The only reasons a restaurant would serve farm raised salmon is because they are ignorant of the facts about the food choices they are making, they have no regard for the environment or your health, or they are greedy (it's a lot cheaper) at your expense.

Great for sharing

by jvuylsteke

I?ve had a great experience every time I?ve gone to Gordon Biersch. The food was fabulousand entrees were big enough that we all had a little bit of each others. The beer selection was amazing too. You could even order a pitcher-sized mug all to yourself!

  • Cons: As always with downtown restaurants you have to pay for parking
