About The Pike Brewing Company

  • Home of Pike Ale
  • Local, Seasonal Pub Fare
  • Wine, Artisan Cheese, Tours

Charles & Rose Ann Finkel are pioneers in making & marketing craft beers. They opened Pike in 1989 concentrating on beers of exceptional quality. Pike's beers are distributed, on draft & in bottle, in pubs, restaurants & stores in the NW. The Pike Pub is the showcase for the brewing company. Each ale - Naughty Nellie, Pike Pale, IPA, Kilt Lifter, Tandem, Monk's Uncle, & XXXXX Stout, is served properly in a working brewery. Local, seasonal, delicious pub fare includes fresh mussels & clams, hand crafted bratwurst w/Chef Gary's WA State apple sauerkraut, artisan cheese, smoked salmon, local wines, beer to go, & gifts. Pike received the 2006 Where Magazine, "Best local bar and pub". Displayed on 5 levels is a museum telling the story of beer from its discovery; to the pleasure of people who hunted & gathered for a living; to the modern micro brew mania that started right hear in Seattle.

What Our Expert Scouts Say

The Pike Brewing Company
April 13, 2013

Maybe you've seen their beers in stores or being served up by owners Charles and Rose Ann Finkel at various events around town, but if you haven't made your way to their flagship digs in Pike Place Market you're missing out. A dizzyingly array of well crafted beers (like the popular 'Naughty Nellie') with tasty pub fare to match keeps this place 'hopping' 7 days (and nights) a week.

Charlie and Rose Ann Finkel were (and still are) trailblazers in Washington state by putting their own high quality beers and those of other micro brewers on the map nationwide. Great beers, good food, friendly staff and a lively room make this the perfect place to meet a friend or a large festive group. Special dinners and meet the brewer events are a bonus.

Even if you're not a beer drinker, you've gotta like The Pike. The massive watering hole has got a ever-changing cast of characters who frequent the place at Pike Place Market, folks drawn by the tasty, local-focused pub fare and the award-winning ales, stout, even Barleywine. Try the charcuterie plate with a house sampler of brews and you're bound to find a few faves. And guess what? The Washington-centric wine list is impressive, too.

DOUBLE IPA OR THE XXXXX STOUT. BEST BEER IN SEATTLE!. the Pike Brewery is awesome if you like great beer and excellent local food!... Family owned... they use local sustainable food (try the Wild Spicy Salmon). They have a gravity flow brewery system (ask for a FREE tour of the brewery, or call ahead and set up a FREE tour for your party).... Huge place (you can reserve a party for more than 20 people for the same day you call).... TVs to watch a game... I love taking my friends and family here .... great place for tourists and locals alike!!!

Great beer, food and atmosphere. Stopped by Pike Brewing last weekend for lunch. Fun place to grab a burger and try a few beers. It does get crowded because it is so popular so be prepared. They do have a lot of seating so they can handle big crowds. Try a kilt lifter beer and live it up!

Nothing Special. My wife and I visited this place today for happy hour. To be fair, we did not get past the somewhat inhospitable bartender (or whatever you call the guy who works behind the bar in today's PC society). I asked simply, what he had on tap that was the closest thing to a lager.....

...and was somewhat curtly informed that "This is an ale house..." Funny thing is that the name of the brewery says nothing about ale: The Pike Place Brewing Company could in fact brew lager. He was courteous enough to slap the menu down on the bar in front of me before walking away. Needless to say, we walked away after that treatment. The place was loud and crowded, so that can't be a bad sign. But this place did have a whiff of "biker bar" about it (if that's your scene).

Anyway that may not be a fair review, since we didn't have the chance to taste their beer or food. Chance it if you must. But as a local (of 6, almost 7 years) I can say there are better places to eat and drink in Seattle; especially if hospitality is a consideration.

Make mine a Pike's stout please.. Now that the Pyramid is owned by Magic Hat on the East Coast you will see me at the Pike Brewery a lot more often. Great beer and good friends make this place a winner.

Citysearch Editorial Review. A Seattle tradition, this family-owned brewery and pub is a destination for tourists and locals alike. Their colorfully named beers (made with local ingredients whenever possible) cover all the bases, with something for every palate, from the Naughty Nelly, a light mild ale, to the IPA and Scotch-style Kilt Lifter. The industrial-inspired restaurant is filled with an eclectic array of beer paraphernalia showcasing the popular history of beer in the last century through barrels, boxes and advertisements from around the world. The food is better than average and includes an impressive selection beyond the standard pub fare of burgers, nachos and pizza: for something different try the spicy salmon stuffed with Dungeness crab and Oregon shrimp or the cheese sampler with five styles from local dairies served with Washington apple slices and honey. The brewery is open for tours on Tuesday and Saturday or by appointment, and for large parties or private events, Pike offers several private rooms and a tailored catering menu.

Must visit location that you'll want to visit more often. This was a must visit location for us as out of towners. My husband insisted on this being one of our first stops in town and we ended up staying all evening for dinner and beer sampling. The bartender, David, went above and beyond our expectations visiting with us, giving suggestions on other places to see and local fun spots to hang out at while we were in town. The only con for us is that we like a quieter environment and it had quite an "after work" crowd going. We visited other breweries while in town, and at the end of the weekend concluded that Pike's was definitely the best for not only beer, but service, food and environment.

We just wish we lived closer so we could visit more often! oh and get your beer into more stores in the Portland area!

Tourist Attraction That Locals Also Love. This has become a default destination when wandering downtown Seattle. The brews are above average and the menu is extensive enough that it will please anyone but not so large that an indecisive person like me will take forever to decide. The decor can serve as an ice breaker and has even become a full blown conversation.

Great beer. Good for family or after work. We stopped in today to have a brew and a bite for the kids. Kids liked their stuff and the brews were great. Service was great too. I recommend going here anytime.

Great after work hangout. I love this restaurant and have been a number of times. The beer is above average and the food has been great most times that we have come. The only drawback that it has is the location. It is always such a pain to get down to the market and find parking but when you do this is a great reward. Just remember to ask for the number for the restrooms, I guess that they try to keep it for patrons only but I always forget the number on the way after a few beers.
