What People Are Saying About Mexican Grocery

In Short – A veteran of Pike Place Market since 1965, this is one of the only spots downtown to get a decent tortilla. The store brims with authenticity and a sort of bare-bones aesthetic that lets you know it's not messing around. Many spices come hand-labeled in Ziploc bags, wooden barrels filled with dried pinto beans line the window and salsas are made fresh daily. Shoppers can choose from pico de gallo, salsa verde or "salsa quemada" (roasted pepper salsa). – – –

The Extras:
El Mercado Latino, two blocks south in Post Alley, sells Mexican, South American and Spanish goods. And El Puerco Lloron, the restaurant on the Pike hill climb is a great bet for true Mexican fare.
Know Before You Go:
Try De Laurenti in the Market for a full complement of Italian groceries and deli items.
