This tiny marketplace is my stop for pomegranate molasses, kofta curry and earrings from India.
Arabic for "marketplace," this Pike Place shop is an emporium of Middle-Eastern and near-Eastern goods, foods and spices..
In Short
The small store is packed from floor to ceiling with Basmati rice, jar curries, cookbooks, Arabic tapes and hand-embroidered cloth purses and gifts. Friendly employees climb ladders to reach merchandise on the highest shelves; they also gladly explain the difference between Kofta Curry and Baba Ghanouj or any of their packets of fresh spices. Frequent customers usually purchase baklava, sugar-coated fennel seeds, spices, printed scarves, Indian music recordings and hand-beaded and embrodered purses.
