What People Are Saying About Three Girls Bakery

In Short – From a tiny window in front of the Sanitary Market Building, Three Girls daily sells hundreds of cookies, scones, croissants, rolls and bread loaves, all supplied by other bakers. Sandwiches don't get a whole lot more popular than this, and "whole" is the operative word: "No halves," the hardworking, wisecracking architects of meat and cheese will say. Grab a cookie or lemon bar to finish off the meal.

The Truth about Three Girls

by LoxySoxy at Citysearch

While it is true that Three Girls gets many of their breads from other bakeries around Seattle; they do bake their own pastries and cookies at their Ballard location, which are then delivered to Pike Place daily.

good food but bad customer service

by kam122 at Citysearch

I have eaten here every time I go to Pikes Market. The food has always been good but the staff has never been pleasant. On my latest trip I had taken some out of town guests. They were taken back by the rude behavior displayed by the waitress. She had a serious attitude problem. She wouldn't give any recomendations and talked down to my guests for asking questions. She acted as if their food was soooo good that we should feel privelaged to eat there, as if she was doing us a favor. After we placed our order and witnessed this rude behavior I cancelled our order and walked out. As I was walking by later I decided to talk with the Manager at the outside window. He took up for his waitress and displayed almost the same attitude. He said he would speak with her concerning this matter but he wasn't very believable. I would like to point out that I have never left a restaurant after placing an order before. Being a former bartender I treat all wait staff with respect as I know how hard their job is. So, if you can get past the negative attitude of the workers, and small eating area, the sandwiches are large and filling. I will never eat there again and I would not recommend this restaurant.

Home Cookin' but better

by foooooddddyyy at Citysearch

We got there at 11 am and counter was open. Able to talk to workers...very nice and casual. Lots of recommendations. I had a simple grilled cheese and their veggie black bean soup with a hard roll. Wonderful. Friend had BLT and Chowder..also good. Wish we had paid as soon as we got the food because the place filled up FAST!!! Lots of regulars which is a good sign. I am a food snob and will go again.

  • Pros: Service, food
  • Cons: dingy but nice character

Great food, friendly service

by automat at Citysearch

On a recent visit to Seattle, my wife & I stopped here several times. The pastrami & corned-beef sandwiches are some of the best you'll get outside of NYC, plus -they don't raise an eyebrow if you want cheese (including Tilamook Cheddar) on it . The meatloaf sandwich was great-- like something grandma would put together for a picnic. All served on tasty fresh baked bread. My wife said the chocolate covered coconut cookie, was the best cookie ever. All the baked goods were top quality, and we tried quite a few.

Early on a weekday morning this is one of the few places open at Pike Place Market, and we had a good cup o'joe & a fresh baked bagel, served by a gentleman, who was one of the frendliest, service-oriented people we've encountered in many years of travel. In tourist mobbed Pike Market, it was very refreshing to find staff so helpful and cheerful.

A must try!

by kwixxotik at Citysearch

I was introduced to Three Girls Bakery a couple of years ago by a friend of mine, who was in love with their chocolate drop cookies. Now crazy about it myself--although my main addiction are their amazing pretzels--Three Girls is the one place I invariably go to on my infrequent trips into Seattle. Their pretzels are phenomenal, nothing at all like the cheap, microwave kind you're going to get at a mall or movie theater. These are true German-style bakery pretzels, made from fresh bread and cooked in an oven. Also worth noting are the Snickerdoodle and Oatmeal Raisin cookies, their scones, and the Russian Wedding Cookies, which I usually can't resist buying either. But really, you can't go wrong with anything you see there!!

  • Pros: Everything is good, everything is fresh, prices are great
  • Cons: Can be long lines
