Scallops, halibut, lamb, pork belly banh mi, nothing seems to be outside this lovely room's specialty. Monday - Friday happy hour 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. offers a peekabo view.

This is one of those dream spots where you want to order one of everything. At lunch that includes a dynamite oyster po'boy, the sloppy good barbecue pork sammie and a pork belly banh mi. Evenings should involve seafood, letting the kitchen showcase whatever is fresh and in season. All meals should be prefaced by the crab-topped deviled eggs and an expertly crafted cocktail.

One of my favs for lunch or dinner, Matt's serves up quality food & a fantastic ambiance.
not good anymore. I used to love Matt's. The last two experiences there have been terrible. There is no place to park. There is always a long wait, so I made sure to make reservations. We got there on time and we still had to wait for an extra hour. They offered us wine to drink OUTSIDE while we waited and it was included on our tab even though we ordered drinks, wine, appetizers and desserts with our meal. The salads are always good, the rest was okay. Sorry- I will not go back.
"Don't tell anyone!". That's what the bartender and crew told us when we enthused over our innovative, fresh, and delicious meals. This is a very small, clean restaurant -- quiet in the usually noisy Pike Street Market area.
Excellent Food with a nice Wine List. I am from LA, and my buddy is from Vegas. We had lunch at Matt's and had an phenomenal experience. We only had to wait a few minutes for a table and received some of the best service I have ever had. I had the halibut pan seared over rissotto. Go there. Go now.
Glad when others won't wait....
..because it shortens the line in front of me.
We knew dinner seating could involve a wait, so we left our name and hung out at a local lounge. The area has several nice ways to pass time, so all the more pleasant an evening. When we were seated (at the time that was estimated), the food, service and atmosphere were all 10 / 10. I'm conflicted about leaving such a positive rating, because this is one of those 'the less people know, the better' places, but Matt's earned nothing but raves.
For a healthy dose of rudeness. I've never eaten at Matt's so I'm sure that their food is great ...etc., but I have TRIED to eat there 3 times. So here is the deal: First of all, they tell you that they don't take lunch reservations. The next time you call, they tell you that they do take reservations and everything is booked until noon. So then you ask to have the next available ETA of 12:15. But, since it's only 11:45 they can't take your request. OK, so when should you call? So you call at noon and they say "yea, we should have one available - call back in 10 minutes." So you call back in 10 minutes and they say "we just gave it away." Try again. I don't care how good their food is, if the staff is any indication of the restaurant you should avoid going there.
The Best. Matt's is the best restaurant in Seattle. The staff is helpful and friendly and the food cannot be beat. Everytime I eat lunch there I am tempted by the fabulous specials but I often return to my favorite Catfish Po'Boy. They offer great wines by the glass and bottle and will often give you a taste before you make your decision. It is small and they don't take reservations but the wait is worth it!
