My favorite French bistro in town.... I have been to Chez Shea 4-5 times now and I have gotten excellent service and wonderful seasonal food cooked to perfection each time. I do admit their wine selection is a bit expensive but it is so worth the atmosphere, the experience, and the delicious food. Keep up the good work guys!! I am looking forward to my next time!

One of Seattle's most romantic restaurants exudes intimate, elegant charm.. The Scene
Long beloved for its sweeping views of Elliot Bay and whisper-worthy perch above Pike Place Market, this European-flavored bistro underwent a graceful change in ownership in 2004. Regulars will be happy to see that much has remained the same, from the hushed atmosphere and crisp linens to the warm-hearted, detail-oriented service. It's easy to imagine that the dimly lit dining room has been the setting for more than a few marriage proposals.

The Food
Koichiro and Tomoyo Ikawa bring a broader stroke of Japanese influence to the kitchen's refined focus on seasonal, local ingredients. Courses from the fixed-price menu consistently arrive beautifully timed and elegantly presented. Starters might include fresh oysters with a brightly-flavored wasabi soy mignonette or an understated celery bisque with the sharp contrast of a blue cheese garnish. Entree choices may include a perfectly executed beef tenderloin with a rich demi-glace or expertly seared scallops in a port reduction sauce. Diners with room for dessert can't go wrong, particularly if they select the chevre cheesecake.

great food and service. returning from vacation in France my contry of birth, and visiting my childrens in Seattle we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at chez Chea. the Duck was fantastic, as well as the oysters. it was much better

than the same that we had in Dordogne and Bretagne. the wine list is also very very fair. i will go back there

first chance i get when we return to visite here from California

compliments to the chef..

Tasty and expensive ITTY BITTY portions. I have to say that I truly love the space that makes up Chez Shea. It is cute and intimate and always makes me feel like I am in a movie as I look out across the market roof. I cannot say that I feel the same fondness for the food, however. Although it is very tasty, the portions are so small that it almost is not worth eating there! It is one of those restaurants where everything is exquisitely presented, but underneath the sprouts and fancy sauce, there isn?t much there. I have eaten there three times and each time my party and I left to go somewhere else for a late night snack despite the fact that we had already spent over $150.00! My recommendation would be to start off at Chez Shea for a drink and an appetizer and then to go somewhere else for the rest of your meal!

Intimate, lovely atmosphere, great food, good service. I've been to Chez Shea twice in the last year, and was happy both times. My first time there we went withfriends and it was wonderful--it was a set menu, slightly different to what they have now (less choices in the courses, except the entree). The service was wonderful. The first two courses are set, (first course was a tart)with a choice of the third course and entree. I was allergic to the first course, so they made something separate for me. My husband ordered the beef, which was perfect, and I had the vegetarian option (an amazing take on lasanga--layers of crepe, bechemel sauce and vegetables). The second time there were choices for each course as it is now; again wonderful service, excellent beef tenderloin, but the duck was only okay. Still, I would definately go back.

Overrated ... In my honest opinion, this French restaurant is way overrated... However, the place is both romantic and creepy.. We ordered the tasting menu, well, the food taste's below what we're expecting and it's pricey for a small restaurant like this. The service was very good though..

Intimate and great food!. Very intimate setting and not too noisy. I like the fact the restaurant is a little hidden, I think it's part of the charm. I had a couple of signature cocktails, all very tasty. I also enjoyed all three courses there. I had the lemon tart for dessert, it was flaky, soft, and flavorful. Overall the experience was excellent!

best restaurant in Seattle. Everything about this place was perfect. The food to the view to the impeccable service, this was more than dinner it was an event. We ordered the chef's menu and our server timed each course perfectly. The food was inventive and amazing. The wine paired perfectly. At first being sat, I was concerned about what seemed closely spaced tables but it turned out not to be an issue. This place struck all the right notes creating a perfect intimate delicious experience.

Nice Lounge. I am new in Seattle, and try to find good restaurants and bars in town. Of some great experiences so far, I really like Chez Shea's 3-course price-fixed menu available in the lounge. $25 per person with some entree choices. It is a casual lounge but has a nice view and the ambience is warm and intimate. Service can be a little bit slow when the lounge is filled, but still very friendly. I will try Chez Shea main dining room soon.

Chez Nay. I give this review in the context of having paid $300 for a meal and my expectations of such an experience. On New Years Eve and the anniversary for my fiancee and I, we patroned Chez Shea and found them to be below expectations. We were initially ignored when we entered despite the fact that their were employees who were not occupied. We had to request to have our coats hung up and were told by the hostess to remind her to get it for us when we left (as we left we retrieved the coats ourselves from the closet as no one was around). Of the six course meal only one of the appetizers and the dessert made me go "mmm", the rest was nothing special. The service was average and not especially nice. The waitress only poured the taster pour of wine for my partner and did not pour me a glass to test. The atmosphere is nice (we sat in the lounge) and the specialty drinks were very yummy. But, overall, a great disappointment to our budget and our special nite.
