What Our Expert Scouts Say

Alibi Room
April 14, 2013

Grab a corner table and settle in with a cold pint while you wait for your friends. Great happy hour prices and the kitchen knocks out some pretty impressive dishes as well. And if you need to get rid of that gum you've been chewing on - Seattle's famous 'gum wall' is right out the door and just two steps away.

Love. This. Place. Tucked below the business offices of Pike Place Market this cozy room has fine bevs, bites & a killer collection of film scripts to peruse should you find yourself drinking alone. Happy hour runs 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. 7 days a week.

Great Location - Horrible Waitress. Went here for my boyfriends birthday party this weekend and the atmosphere is super cool. Our waitress was incredibly rude from the begining though. I don't know if that's there thing like that sandwich shop where they curse at you or what but I was completely shocked by how unprofessional she was.

About ten minutes after we arrived she asked us if we were sure there were really gonna be 15 people in our party as not everyone had found the secret location of the place (I'm sure this is a common problem). Then once everyone arrived she threatened us (seriously threatened us) with ruining our good time if we were to venture downstairs without paying her first. Throughout the night she continually accused members of our table of skipping out on the check when they went out for cigs....does no one ever smoke anymore?! This kept happening even though most of our table remained seated. To be fair maybe she just doesn't trust minorities as our table was very diverse - although I don't really expect that from people in Seattle. Finally, when her shift ended she demanded (didn't politely ask but DEMANDED) that we pay our tabs as she was off. It was all very strange.

However, once we were free from the repression of our horrible waitress we went downstairs to the dance floor area and had a wonderful time!! The bartender was awesome as was the DJ and we ended our night on a great note. My suggestion is if you go to the Alibi Room head straight downstairs unless you want to get your feelings hurt.

Coolest spot for delicious pizza in Seattle. I have been going to the Alibi Room forever, but I didn't realize they had delicious pizza until my last visit! If you can get a table I recommend it. I always feel cool when I'm at the Alibi Room, like it is some esoteric spot that nobody knows about except for other cool people like me. Love to take people from out of town. I'll walk them through the lower levels of the market, get them real lost and turned around and then pop out into the alley and into the bar. People feel like they are getting the real local treatment.

AMAZING Pizza and Drinks. I went to the Alibi Room with a group of my girls for a birthday gathering and had an amazing time. The pizza is so tasty with all fresh ingredients and so much flavor. I love that the crust is thin and the ingredients stay on the pizza (unlike some pizza's where the grease makes the toppings slide off). The staff at the Alibi Room was very accommidating and friendly. I usually wouldn't fill out a review, but I had to let everyone know about the Alibi Room because of the great expierence we had. We are defiantly going back!!!!

Corey's my BOY!!! Great time! Hard to find at 1st.. Alibi is great! Not the best location as for giving directions but I had a great experience. Corey (the owner) was so helpful to make my bday special this weekend. He even came in with an injured foot to make sure everything went smoothly. Thank you! Corey askd for a DJ, connected me with the bartendar and made every effort to make my bday special. Only negative thing was the party that was already there stayed the whole night which I didn't anticipate. The bartender, and DJ were so nice and went out of their way for me and my friends! Thank you so much~

Throw back to 'what's the password' speakeasy. Totally cool place. It's a little mysterious. If you were meeting a blind date, this would definitely add to the intrigue, as there is no place else like it. Basically you will never just 'happen upon' this joint - you have to know what you were looking for. In my case, I knew what I was looking for and was thought I was lost until I finally found the door. It kind of has this mysterious kind of walk down the cobblestone alley near the Pike Place Market and the door will not be obvious, but it is definitely there. It has that prohibition/what's the password feel. Great place for dinner and drinks. I dig it.

Cozy, little joint. This is a great place to meet friends for cocktails after a long day in the office or after shopping at the pike place market. My freinds and i always meet at the Alibi for drinks before heading to a show at showbox. I enjoyed a really tasty strawbery lemon drop martini, supper yummy.. Some wild creation by a very helpful bartender named Corey. I must say the service has improved since my last visit(there is talk of new ownership). We did not have to wait long for our appitizers (apple slices with brie cheese platter) and dinner (grilled salmon with fresh asparagus on a bed of mashed patatoes).

No longer my Alibi.. I remember walking into the Alibi when an acknowloging look at least , would be given from from behind the bar or by a server as you sat down. No matter how packed, late or drunk everyone was, you knew someone would get to you. The first time I went in after a while of being away ,I sat and waited with my friend almost 10 min., only about 8 people in the place only to recieve a tanqueray/tonic without a lime. You don't have to be the Master Bartender to know this simple drink. Server had to waved down for another drink.

Second visit 3/4 full. Again sat down, no acknowlogment at all after 15 minutes. Not at least until, we were walking out the door, with not even a glass of water on our table.

What happened Alibi?

Hip nosh and stiff drinks underneath the Pike Place Market attract the young, fashionable and tattooed.. In Short
Tucked under Pike Place Market, the Alibi Room could easily be dismissed as a place strictly for drinks, but it's also a popular dinner spot. Snug, dimly lit spaces encourage a subtle kind of mating dance. Downstairs, rotating DJs add to the atmosphere with beat-heavy mixing. Order one of the daily specials, such as first-catch halibut, or, for late-night dining, share the sun-dried tomato hummus plate or the baked chevre with pears.
