In Short – Various Pike Place Market visitors and regulars settle in to drink, eat and talk. On weekends, the bar scene is overwhelmingly young. There's an outdoor patio for sipping and supping alfresco and a smoky bar featuring live Irish music. Folks come for the Irish brews and food, such as shepherd's pie, corned beef and cabbage, pasties and sausage rolls, fresh salads, leg of lamb and Irish whiskey cake.

Editor's Tips

Parking:
Pike Place garage at 1531 Western, offers several deals. After 5pm, park all night for a buck. Every day, the first hour of parking is free.

Traditional

by CSMobileUser2 at Citysearch

Good traditional Irish food, a chill and relaxing place like most Irish pubs, if your looking for a loud traditional American bar i would not go here. However every now and then they have live music which wakes the place up. Love the sausage rolls, good place over all.

Not a happy place

by sapphire923 at Citysearch

Visited Kell's on May 4, 2010.

Ordered the Salmon dinner for $27. Knew it was a mistake but my husband insisted. It didn't measure up. Nothing measured up. Ordered a glass of wine and the glass was served half full. The waitress was rude and acted like we were bothering her. The overall feeling in the bar was that we were not welcome. The food is not worth the high prices. We stay at the Crown Plaza at least once a month and walk to the nearby bars and restaurants. This was by far the worst experience we have had in Seattle. It so ruined my stay that I am still complaining about it to everyone I know.

  • Pros: walking distance from hotels
  • Cons: poor food, service

NEVER AGAIN!!!

by realcook at Citysearch

Waitress was rude and argumentative when I tried to send back the "clam chowder" (after 2 spoonfulls) for having NO CLAMS in it!!! Then she tried to tell me a second time that the clames were just "really small" and "chopped up". When I informed her I cook for a living (and have for the last 15yrs.) she persisted, finally I told her asertively "I don't want the soup" she walked off in silent protest. No apology, no customer service. Then..........the owner/manager lady w/ long red hair and an attitude began questioning me about the soup. before I could gather my thoughts she also began arguing w/ me, THE CUSTOMER!!! What happened next was a first in my 39yrs. on earth and the 15+ years I have spent in 5 star kitchens, brewhouses, and celebrity chef shadows. Billigerent and indignant are the only words that describes this......."your paying for the soup this is not a charity I am running". When I asked her to repeat that, she did. I was then informed I could take my business elsewhere. Having enough of this I finally made a mistake and told her where she could go and what she could do when she got there. I got up to leave as she told me she was now "calling the police" for assault and a "dine and dash". I paid my tab w/ plastic (which later I learned from my bank I was overcharged 12 dollars) left the establishment and was mocked w/ the term "God bless you" as I walked away. God had nothing to do w/ what happened there and nither will this Irishman ever again!!!

Tired of giving this place chances...and money

by unliterate at Citysearch

My wife and I used to love hitting Kell's on weekend afternoons and evenings for decent food and good beer, but the service has been so abysmal that we are quite done with this place. I had to ask a waitress for menus...then we had to wait to order drinks...then...well, we left. I wish that this were an isolated incident.

Bye Kell's. We will be taking our money elsewhere.

Management Lost a Customer FOREVER

by the closet italian at Citysearch

We moved to Seattle two weeks ago and after settling in were finally able to make it to what used to be one of our favorite restaurants. It was 20 minutes before 5pm when the dinner menu starts. So instead, we ordered from the Happy Hour Menu and started with one order of the Twice Baked Potato and one order of the Ballycastle Sausage Roll. The Sausage Roll's were so good we order two more. We were unable to finish so I asked the waitress for a to go box. She came back stating management told her because we ordered from the Happy Hour Menu we couldn't take our leftovers home. It's not like they put out a buffet where you go and load up your plate. I ordered from the menu. Have you heard of anything so FREAKING REDICULOUS!. I ordered food from a menu and paid for it and was unable to take my half of a sausage roll home. They have forever lost two Irish customers.

  • Pros: Waitress was outstanding
  • Cons: They wouldn't give me a to go box
