Painting and sculpture by noted Northwest artists, plus outrageous opinions on any topic..
The Experience
Started by the notoriously outspoken Gordon Woodside and his partner John Braseth, the gallery is famous for the loyalty of its artists, some of whom have been with the gallery since its inception. The art is sometimes figurative (William Cumming is notable for producing such art), and sometimes consists of landscapes, such as Paul Havas' canvases. But a good share of it is abstract. To please Woodside, it must have a look he describes as "romantic humanism"--typified in the classically rendered pears and impressionist landscapes of Gary Faigin, founder of the Northwest Academy of Realist Art.
In the Know
Don't be deceived if the gallery seems sparsely populated. The clientele is so well established that most of their business is done over the telephone. Hence, much of the art is sold before a show ever opens.
