The Scene
Nina Ummel has gone to great lengths (and distances) to bring her clients a unique spa experience: hand-carved teak doors from Java; 27 exquisite teas from around the world; and the solarium, a quiet place reminiscent of a luxurious Eastern destination. Wicker chairs, flowing silk drapes and natural light diffused by bamboo blinds provide an exotic beginning to your "journey."
The Services
The Equator is a two-hour indulgence: spend 20 minutes relaxing in a waterfall shower before moving into a steam room infused with the scent of essential oils, followed by a salt rub and water massage. Finally, enter a dry sauna where warm oils and muds are rubbed into your skin. The signature Revive facial employs an enzyme peel instead of traditional extractions for a gentler approach to deep pore cleansing.
The Details
Whirlpool, soaking tub, steam room, dry sauna, waterfall shower. Massage, body treatments, wet treatments, acupuncture, facials, hair removal, sunless tanning, manicure/pedicure, full-service salon.

I received a $250 gift certificate for Ummelina for Christmas two years ago and finally decided to go use it. Ummelina came highly recommended so I was pretty excited. I scheduled a 60 minute massage ($90) and a facial ($120) and thought I would have enough for tips (or I could save it again to use towards something else. First of all, the massage was okay. It wasn't great and I have certainly had better for less. The girl was nice and friendly so otherwise I have no complaints. Moving on to the facial...I would have to say this experience turned me off of facials going forward. The main reason why I even felt compelled to write a review is because today, 5 days later, I am (STILL) more broken out than I have been since I was in high school! I'm embarrassed to be at work and had to cancel lunch plans yesterday because it is so bad. The final straw was when the girl at the front desk said I owe $250 for services (not including tip). She then broke it down so I could determine how much tip to pay each person and it was, sure enough, $90 for the massage and $120 for the facial. Hmmm...I can still only get to $210. I was irritated at that point and just wanted to leave. Overpriced, bad experience.

I love to visit all kinds of spa's and i am new to seattle so i went to Ummelina and it was great. I had a wonderful massage with Jen. She said she had been there a long time and i can see why they keep her around! :) it was a different spa than i am used to, hard to explain, more natural i guess? and it made my experience feel really authentic, not cold and sterile. i loved the massage and the atmosphere, i highly recommend ummelina!!!!
