Annex TheatreLong time fringe theatre with a nice little bar, an intimate house and always interesting contemporary offerings on stage. Don't miss the monthly Spin the Bottle cabaret or the always awesome Emmet Watson's Weird and Awesome showcase.
This established alternative theater group featuring bold new works is a great way to keep your finger on Seattle's theatrical pulse..
Who Are They?
One of Seattle's oldest fringe theaters, Annex has been producing hits (and misses) for a dozen years now.
The Style
Used to be that an Annex show meant zany and campy, but lately some maturity and depth has been creeping into their sensibilities. All in all, a good place to catch new works and writers on the rise. The scope of material presented in the last couple of years ranges from an adaptation of Herman Melville's "Bartleby the Scribner" to "Penatralia" a glimpse of a marriage crushed by the death of a child.
Added Attraction
Their monthly late night cabaret, "Spin the Bottle" held at Velocity Studios in the Oddfellows Building is a smorgasboard of some of the best (and oddest) Seattle talent. You never know what you'll see--it could be dance, spoken word, music or even puppets--and it's often naughty.
