A Seattle institution. Their philosophy is to do a few things and to do them well. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, shakes and fries...that's about it - and they do them well. That's all you need to know about Dick's.

Long-time locals swear by the burgers and fries but for me the reason to drop by this carry out window are the chocolate shakes-- which happen to pair nicely with rum.
Move over McKie D's!. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! GOOD GOOD GOOD! The burgers taste like they're homemade! They're firm and griddled well, not like the pasty commercial patties you get at drive thru's. Fries are soft, but tasty, and don't think about sharing - you'll regret it! Seating is always available - in your car! Otherwise, it's standing room only in the great concrete outdoors.
Check out the new website for DicksDriveIn.
Greatest salty fries from fresh potatoes and the ice cream is to die for!
The new website has lots of old photos and stories which makes it a trip to the 50's without leaving your chair.
It's just fun.
Eat there. The Deluxe is the best burger for the money in Seattle. Emphasis; for the money. So good and cheap! Don't forget to get a molkshake too. the only downside is that it's standing room only, outdoors at that.
Flown to seattle just to eat here. Working for an airline has one excellent perk, flying. I've flown numerous times to seattle to eat there specifically the broadway location. 2 cheeseburgers and a vanilla milkshake.. Making me drool just thinking about it!
Yummmmmmy!!. So good after a drunken night of fun. But also good for a silly little date, walking about the avenue. Definitely get the onions. Sooooo good!!
cheap. I don't particularly care for Dick's, but everyone I know seems to love it. I prefer to pick my toppings, but you can't customize one of their burgers. That is probably why it is so cheap. It is quick and kids love it.
FAST CHEAP and Bring the Handiwipes. A great place to grab food on go if your looking for burger fries and a drink. Do bring your handi wipes though, greasy burger and fries are the norm in a brown dripping bag. If your looking for choices in the menu though dont bother stopping. There is no dine in but there are tables outside during decent weather. Like I said, for Fast Cheap Burger Joint its a great place to grab and go.
Richard's has good food and good service..
I have always enjoyed going to this establishment...One of my largest regrets about moving away from Seattle is that I miss their food. Those of you who think that the food is bad, I respect your opinion, but I really disagree. As far as fast food goes, Richard's (can't use the real name..won't let me) knocks McDonalds, Wendy's, BK, etc. out of the water.
What I appreciate most about this restaurant, however, is how well they treat their employees. I tried to work there when I was in college and couldn't get hired...they are very selective. Some of their employee benefits include:
Paid community service
Paid health care
Educational Scholarships
Childcare assistance
$8.75 to start per hour
Try that at McDonalds. They put their employees over profit...an admirable trait.
Real burgers and fries. Okay, I used to live in Seattle and for nearly 30 years i went to this fave burger shop whenever I could. The burgers are like the burgers I had as a kid...REAL. Greasy. Stick to your ribs stuff, not these designer burgers that the annoying health conscious people think they need. The prices have always been low here, the I have never been disappointed. Cheeseburger, fires, chcolate shake and I am in heaven. Nostalgia? Of course! Who needs a $7.00 designer burger (or anything else from California)??? This is a Seattle place. With all the changes, it is still there, orange and low-tech, completely non-trendy. This is the real stuff! Too bad the censoring thingie won't let me type the name of it!!!
Dicks is the best.. If you don't like it, PLEASE go back to California, eat at In and Out, Fatburgers, whatever. And take your pollution, and developers, with you. I'm not in the least bit nostalgic for Dicks - have lived here all my life and have no reason to be nostalgic. I've tried the places in California, and frankly you can keep them there.
