The Scene
The relaxed atmosphere reflects the no-nonsense approach to standard Thai fare. Grab a quick bite at the counter, where you can absorb the organized chaos of the open kitchen and check out the parade of foot traffic on Broadway. Service can be efficient to the point of overzealousness, but that only adds to the informal, bustling vibe.

The Food
Fish cakes and other Thai standbys like pad thai or tom kah gai are safer bets than some of the other entrees. The curries can be on the salty side, a problem alleviated somewhat with a helping of white rice. The Siam speciality of orange beef is prepared with a bounty of fresh vegetables, but thin slices of candied beef can be charred and leathery. Vegetarians fear not, there's no shortage of good options, including the Siam spicy eggplant, enlivened with fresh basil and cashew nuts.

I've visited countless Thai restaurants in and around Seattle, and nothing compares to Siam. The flavor of the food is excellent and the wait staff are always friendly. The garlic chicken dish, pad thai, and pad see eww are the best. Siam also has a great wine list with wines that really compliment many of the dishes. If you're looking for somewhere new to try this is it!

I've eaten here several times on my way to a class after work. I love their pud thai, fresh rolls, decent beer selection and sticky black rice for dessert.

As another reviewer said, the food was "just OK." I got a stir-fry vegetable dish whose name I don't recall now. The veggies were cooked nicely and were crisp enough, but the pinwheel-sliced carrots reminded me of something from a kids menu, and the celery was an unusual choice of vegetable for a Thai dish. I don't think it blended well with the rest of the flavors. Service is quick, the prices are decent, and the place looks pretty nice, but overall it's just not worth it. Perhaps their other dishes are better, but I won't be coming back unless I happen to be in the neighborhood and must have Thai food right there and then... which is unlikely. I'd rather wait until I get home and go to Racha or Tup Tim Thai.
