New cook or management?.
A couple of times recently I have had some dishes with potatoes that tasted odd and different from my previous experience there or at other Indian restaurants. I didn't realize why until my friend told me that they said that sometimes they use deep friend potatoes and recook them in the dishes. I wonder if this is still authentic Indian cooking? Or they do it this way just because they want to use some leftover (from their lunch buffet)?
Either way I don't like it.

Editorial Review.
Indian restaurant on Broadway offers Capitol Hill residents a daily lunch buffet and menu of curries, biriyanis and more standards.

Indian food review from an Indian.
Ok... so ive been in Seattle about three years now and tried almost every indian restaurant worth trying, and this is the best in the area, and the even better thing about it... they DELIVER for free!
I would recommend their vegetable samosas, lamb korma and butter chicken (even though the chicken quality isnt the best... brown meat)... it's pretty good value for the price and the food is consistently good... yum!

excellent Indian cuisine.
The unassuming Broadway location and simple decor might deter some people, but for those individuals who appreciate excellent Indian food, this is a great restaurant! The curries are excellent, especially the lamb korma and lamb tika masala. There is an extensive vegetarian selection, and the okra dish is a surprising delight. While the buffet is often excellent, the best curries are to be had from ordering off the menu. Prices are very fair. In general, service is above average.

Great inexpensive Indian food.
Just re-posting a previous review that somehow got taken down. I'm a huge fan of Indian food and love India Express. The owner, Saleem, is incredibly nice and serves up some delicious food at inexpensive prices. The ambience is lacking a little, but the food more than makes up for it.

I'm Addicted.
After having recently moved to Capitol Hill, I've been taking some months finding all the best restaurants. India Express was the first Indian food place I stumbled onto, and now I know I don't need to look anymore! It's as cheap as you can get for very good food, especially in the lunch buffet. Their vegetable pakora is better (and better for you) than popcorn chicken; my partner and I are totally addicted. It's nice to be able to select a spiciness and the service is very good. Also, they have the best naan I've tasted (granted, I haven't been to a lot of Indian places in my life, but I really love naan, and theirs is perfect.) Their vegetable korma is wonderful; it's spicy and somehow pumpkiny all at the same time. Yum!

great inexpensive indian on broadway!.
I've been going to India Express regularly for 6 years now. The Channa Masala is reliably excellent, some of the best in the city. The Chicken Tikka Masala has an excellent sauce, though the quality of the meat is not the highest. The Naan is also very good, and the music is fantastic. The service is top notch---India Express really has the cozy feel of a small family operation. The ambiance is simple and no frills but it's not the kind of place you're in a rush to get out of either, it's nice to sit for a while, savor the food, enjoy the music, and people-watch.

Without a doubt: The Best!.
Every dish is a delight! Delivery all over Capitol Hill... We order in at least twice a month! Try the Mali Kofta, it's sublime. Not a place you want to go if you're looking for a fancy surrounding.. but it's the best if you're hunkering for some great Indian food!
