The Scene
Local art adorns the aqua-blue walls, setting the informal Mediterranean mood somewhere between cafe and bistro. Service is very friendly, but servers can be a bit overwhelmed during breakfast and dinner rushes.
The Food
It's hard to beat breakfast, particularly El Greco's version of eggs Benedict--two poached eggs perched atop a pair of potato pancakes, melted Gouda and doused in a bath of sumptuous tomato sauce instead of hollandaise. At dinner, the menu is more Mediterranean than Greek, with Moroccan chicken and Italian risotto joining the usual lineup of hummus and baba ghanoush. A lamb burger smothered in garlicky tzatziki, served with perfect sweet potato fries offers a Greek twist on standard diner fare. The restaurant boasts a variety of vegetarian options, including salads and pastas like the house special--sauteed, crispy penne with eggplant, olives and capers.

Insider Tips
The ExtrasEl Greco has a full liquor license and there is a small five-seater bar in the back, if you're inclined to hoist a morning bloody mary.
Where to SitThe bar also serves as a cozy little hideout when the dining room fills up, as it inevitably does on weekends and some weeknights.

My wife and read about El Greco in Seattle Magazine and we've been making a point to try all the top-rated breakfast spots. I ordered the garlic sausage frittata and my wife ordered the french toast of the day (a specialty at El Greco). My frittata was made with egg whites (because I am allergic to egg yolks) and I was happy that I didn't have to order it with Egg Beaters. My fritatta, while not traditional, was great. It was coated in a light cheese (can't remember the type but it wasn't the typical Jack or Cheddar) and it had slices of this garlic-chicken sausage that is probably a local product (maybe Isernio's?). The toast was made from an Italian rustic bread (I think) and it too was awesome. My wife had the french toast which was served with a blueberry compote(?) and creme' fresh butter, unbelievable! Definitely the best french toast I've ever had, possibly the best breakfast I've ever had and I eat out A LOT. The french toast was slightly crispy on the edges with just the pefect texture in the middle. My wife also ordered the bacon which, I was told, was cut at the restaurant so it was slightly thick and very flavorful. The waitress was attentive and quick and she seemed to know most of the other patrons. We will definitely be back.
Pros: food, creativity, service
Cons: parking

It's tradition for my coworkers and I to come up to El Greco on Fridays when they are open early for brunch (They are also open for brunch on Saturday and Sunday). I look forward to this day all week. The brunch here is amazing! My favorites are the el greco benedict, a unique spin on the traditional benedict, and the avocado & pepper jack omelette. You can always expect a new & delicious dish, as Stacey (one of the owners) promotes new specials weekly. And don't forget to come here for dinners Tuesday night for the 1/2 price bottles of wine!
