Mediocre. This was our second visit to Hiroshi's. The time previous to this visit, was about 7 years ago.The restaurant has ample dining space, limited parking, but a great location from Fremont. Anyway, the service was good, but not great. They did not come back to fill our water glasses. The Dragon roll was drenched in some type of sauce and ugh...very, very salty. It also arrived as a sloppy put-together sushi roll. For that same price, I've been to plenty of sushi restaurants that can make the roll actually look presentable. The prices are competitive, but for the quality, I would say their prices should be lowered.

Great lunch specials. I love the lunch specials!! Normally I order the Japanese Lunch Special for $10.95 and it is so much food and so good. Our group from work comes here often to celebrate events or social lunch and most people (except people who do not eat fish) love it. Never been to the Friday night with Jazz but heard it is great! Dinner is definitely more expensive though.

Highly recommend.

Bad and Impolite Service - Don't do it!. Things have gone seriously down hill at Hiroshi's. I have been going here for years and found it to be good food with mediocre service. Now it is apparently terrible service with no food. First of all they took my wife's drink order and walked off without taking mine. After straigtening out that we finally ordered. My wife was served and I waited for a half hour without my order showing up. I finally complained and got a "they are really busy" and no apology. I paid the bill for my wiofe's meal and walked out. Again no apology. And I certainly paid for my wife's dinner. That is the last time for me. there are too many good restaraunts that want my business.

Tucked away in a small strip mall, Hiroshi's provides sushi and other Japanese dishes for the Eastlake neighborhood.. In Short
This casual, brightly lit place offers a big-screen TV and lots of seating options--a smallish sushi bar, two dining areas and several private rooms. The soundtrack might be techno music at a low volume. Table service is friendly, accommodating and swift; at the bar, patrons can interact directly with the sushi chef. All the usual raw-fish suspects, rolls and traditional Japanese entrees are available; lunch options include a daily special bento box.

Good things can be found in a strip mall?. Exceptional items I have experienced include: 1) Tempura veggies appetizer (Split it for sure, or eat that for dinner. Comes with a wide variety of veggies, not just string beans and zucchini.) 2) Gyu-Don Rice Bowl (sliced teriyaki beef - oh so thinly sliced & flavorful)

Not so exceptional items: 1) Chicken Katsu (very dry, tasteless), Chicken Teriyaki (while a large portion, lots of skin on pieces which isn't my style)

Can be crowded on weekends, especially the "Jazz nights". When you try to place a pick-up order on "Jazz night" it will be near impossible for them to hear you - Good luck. Restaurant service has always been pleasant. Definately pricey, but quality is good and some items have substantial portions. Has tv with interesting Japanese television shows.

Last meal. I ordered dinner to-go tonight and I ordered "Chicken Karaage" (starter-$5.95) and "Katsu Combination" ($16.95) from the to-go menu. I have ordered this 2 items many times. To my surprise, I was charged a total of $33.77. According to the to-go menu, the Chicken Karaage should cost $5.95. The waitress thought it was for a dinner order (about $14) and there is no such item for the entree menu. I ordered the same items 2 weeks ago and was charged $5.95. So the rice and salad costs $8?? The quantity of chicken was the same. Must I double-check if it was a starter (I have ordered it so many times the same way and it's only available as a starter)? They should inform their wait staff to take proper orders or change the to-go menu accordingly to reflect that there is such an item in the entree menu.

Bento box offers variety. This weekend I went to Hiroshi's for the 2nd time. I ordered the sushi ala carte last time, and thought the rolls were not noteworthy. The spicy tuna has too much mayonnaise to taste any fish. This time I ordered the bento box which gave me a wider variety of dinner fare, including some albacore sashimi that was so fresh it melted in my mouth. The chicken teriyaki was a little dry, but everything else hit the spot. The only drawback to this place is that you will leave smelling like fried tempura, so leave your coat in the car if you can. Live jazz on Fridays is a plus.

Great sushi. Very tasty food... fresh and nicely prepared. Love the spider and tempura rolls. Staff is friendly and the service is quick. I find the prices to be on the high side so I don't go often but when I do, it's a treat.
