What People Are Saying About Summit Public House

In Short – Don't expect a fashion show at the Summit--patrons visiting this tucked-away tavern go for comfort, not cool. The hardwood interior is as comfy as customers' clothing, and the magnet-covered fridge doors make it feel even more like home. There are 22 beers on tap--and the scoreboard-sized list on the wall makes it easy to digest the selection. The lone pool table is a popular source of entertainment, as is the old-school Galaga machine.

Years of enjoyment!

by michaelseattle at Citysearch

I've been going to the Summit since it became a bar. The owners, previos & new have always been very pleasant and attentive. Location (4 blocks from my apt.) is perfect, and you can smoke & drink on the patio out front. Love the fact that it's dog friendly (mets LOTS of canine friends!) Music is mostly good (I'm a little older than the average patron there-Classic Rock is my bag) and I can't thank the Summit enough for introducing me to my favorite Belgian beer - Hoegaarden !!

  • Pros: Friendly staff/beer selection/location
  • Cons: too many other people discovered it/ often overcrowded (only reason 4/5 stars!)

Like to be abused by cranky rude bartenders?

by karen222 at Citysearch

I read the reviews here saying the new owners are better, so I decided to go check them out.

Now I think maybe the owners wrote those reviews themselves. The woman tending bar had a really bad attitude, and sort of passive agressive. I thought she might not like her job but I asked my friend who told me she WAS the boss! I was shocked. I have a TV and refrigerator at home, so if I go to a bar it's to be around cool people, relax and have some fun, not to be mistreated! To be fair the other male bartender/assistant that brought my food seemed quite nice so if he reads this - it's not your fault and I hope you can find another place to work soon!

  • Pros: The exit sign is clearly visible
  • Cons: Everything

20+ beers on tap, and no bud or coors!!

by quetzaquatl at Citysearch

I love the Summit for its' true neighborhood bar feel. Nothing fancy, just great beers on tap, always good music playing, fun (and different) sports on the TV's, free pool (as in FREE). I've been going there for about 5 months and find the owners and employees to be quite nice. The current owners said they just bought it a year or so ago, so I'm assuming it must be the old owner that people got bad service from. If you're in the 'hood, it's worth checking out. Parking can definitely be an issue though.

  • Pros: choice of beers, happy hour, music
  • Cons: parking

New Owners = GREAT time!

by seattleskillz at Citysearch

I've read a few of the past reviews for the Summit and I have to say that they all talked about 1 thing: the owners. Well, there are 2 new owners of The Summit and they couldn't be friendlier. They have seriously upgraded the place, adding a ventilation system so it's not a smoke filled bar (like most bars on Capitol Hill). They have also expanded and have a nice outdoor patio area to enjoy drinks and conversation with friends. The addition to the flat screen TVs and the fact that The Summit is the ONLY bar in Seattle to show the Tour de France in it's entirety make the Summit a great destination for both locals and out of towners looking for a unique bar experience!

  • Pros: Not filled w/ smoke, friendly staff, central location
  • Cons: parking
