This fiercely independent bookstore--crawling with cats and attitude--sells used books into the night..
The Scene
Twice Sold is like a scrappy, streetwise kid with blue hair, holding her own in a classroom full of slickly attired chain-store peers. Cats stalk across the wooden arches that span shelf tops and upturned milk crates serve as steps to reach books. Signs reveal the store's attitude (No. 13 on the list of Questions Guaranteed to Annoy Twice Sold Tales Employees: "Do you have that one book that was on 'Oprah?'"). Body jewelry abounds. Customers include Seattle Central students, Broadway passers-by, bus-stop loiterers and radicals of all ages.
The Goods
Books found here include fiction, American history, rare books and hard-to-find European translations imported from Britain.
