Great Hair -- Great Salon -- Great People
by snancy12 at Citysearch
I had the best experience at this gem of a salon. It was my first visit here and everyone was so sweet from the moment I walked in the door. They took my coat, made me tea and took me back for a consultation. Deanna did my hair. She gave me the pros and cons of what I wanted so we decided on something a little different to better suite my skin tone and face shape. The results are simply amazing! I love it, it is so beautiful and it totally brings out my eyes.
We laughed and chatted throughout the whole appointment. I found her to be witty and sweet. After, I met my husband for lunch at this great little spot called Table 219. (Deanna suggested). A oerfect afternoon.

I did not receive my desired haircut from Studio 229's DeAnna. I think it was more or less a lack of a communication. When I said “Just a trim, keep the length, nothing drastic,” I believe she interpreted that as, “Do whatever you want, cut it short, I don't care what my hair looks like at all.” I should have been more clear as to my expectations; I should have brought reference material and really spelled it out for her. So I take partial responsibility for the unwanted style of haircut that was several inches shorter than I'd agreed to.
But what I will not take responsibility for is her lack of skill as a hairstylist, as displayed by my blunt, unblended layers with one side visibly shorter than the other. These errors would have been apparent at the salon had she actually styled and dried my naturally curly hair, rather than just send me on my unmerry way with a head full of half wet curls. It wasn't until hours later that my hair dried completely to resemble some sort of new age mullet. It's the worst haircut I've ever, ever had. The work reminiscent of a drunken Edward Scissorhands. I would go have it corrected somewhere else but I don't want to risk another incompetent hairdresser making it look even worse. I'm afraid my only recourse is to let it grow out under the modest shelter of a hat.
Owner was sooo loud

The owner was talking so loud on the phone and to the gal that was cutting my hair that I could not even think. While I was having my hair washed she stood over me and talked to my hair dresser about the schedule, advertising, the shipment that just came in. I wanted to relax and enjoy myself but she made it impossible!
Wonderful Services & People

I stopped going to Gene Juarez after nearly 3 years because of the great hair cut and color I get at Studio 229! DeAnna is amazing with hair. She is honest and wants to cut your hair with your face, hair texture & lifestyle in mind.
I'm a convert forever!
P.S. Kurt does a tremendously fabulous facial. The neck massage and peacefulness is unmatched.
Cool salon, hot hair.

I was in desperate need of new hair so I took a friend's advice and saw Marissa at studio 229. She was awesome and gave me a hip new haircut with some soft highlights to compliment the whole thing. I love it. It's soft and pretty but still hip and kinda funky, exactly what I was looking for.
The salon itself is an awesome space with windows that look over Broadway, art from local artists on the walls, and cool music playing in the background. The whole experience was great. I'm going back for my hair and will try their facials also!
