Editorial Review for Than Brothers Restaurant – by Anna Roth
In Short
Red lanterns decorate the sparse interior of this casual, booth-lined pho emporium, where students and businessmen mingle to devour steaming bowls of the fragrant noodle soup. The menu is straightforward: 17 different types of pho, including meatball, eye-round steak, brisket, tripe and veggie, in four sizes. Each order arrives almost immediately, accompanied by fresh herbs and one of the restaurant's signature cream puffs, made in-house from a secret family recipe.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoBe wary of the size names: small is more than enough for a good-sized meal, while extra-large could feed a small army.
What to DrinkTry a coffee with sweet condensed milk, a chrysanthemum tea with honey or a creamy young coconut drink.

I was surprised to find that I didn't already have a review for this place as I thought I'd reviewed everywhere I typically go. This is a standard place that I'll go at least once a week! I don't always go to this one on Aurora, up by Seattle Kung Fu Club and Stupid Prices, but I was actually there on Monday. It's not my fave, out of all of the Than Brothers, but it's still good! I typically go to either the Redmond location, the Edmonds one (I live right next to it!), or the one on the Ave. in the U-Dist., but this place is fantastic! Huge portions of delicious Pho at amazing prices, all served with a cream puff that is such a delicate tasty treat! It's not my most favorite Pho ever, but it's def the place I frequent the most and I love it! Service is what it is and it's not horrible. I can't believe people have to wait when they order, but I don't need to look at the menu so I order when they bring out the cream puffs, water, sprouts, and such. This is def a Seattle staple and deserves to be on the top of the Cheap Eats category!
Pros: Great Pho, great prices, great cream puffs, great sizes!
Cons: Cash Only. Parking isn't great at the one on Aurora, but you can park all on side streets or bus/walk.

My husband and I both love Pho - minus the onions and cilantro. Although we ordered our to-go orders that way, both came with both of these items. (There's an extra charge for to-go orders.) Someone demanded our order the minute we walked in (before even viewing the menu). Once we had had a chance to look the menu over it took several minutes before someone returned to take our order. The pho was ok - generous in size, but I've had better and the onions and cilantro were a disappointed. The cream puffs were delicious and helped to sooth the bad taste the aforementioned items left.
