Editorial Review for Taco Del Mar – by Citysearch Staff
In Short
The wrap-ups are reminiscent of burritos from the Mission District: Everything's wrapped in huge, handmade tortillas, and spice lovers can add jalapenos or hot sauce. Dig in to a jumbo (with rice and beans, choice of chicken, beef, pork or fish, plus salsa that's made fresh daily) or a super (add sour cream, guacamole, cheese and extra napkins). Vegetarians can order a meatless version, with a choice of whole or refried beans.

Boy, I'm not sure what Taco Del Mar this person who reviewed previously went to, but I can attest that there are tons of choices at Taco D. They have great atmospheres, friendly employees and best of all, GREAT food with endless options. A few years ago there were 61,440 different ways to make their burritos and I'm sure it's more since they have more options now. They don't just have burritos either. There are tacos, enchiladas, nachos, salads, quesadillas, baja bowls, and if you're not that hungry, going in to get just a side of chips and salsa or guacamole, which are both freshly made in the stores several times daily, is a great treat. There are three different kinds of beans, all lard-free, you get your choice of four different tortillas for burritos (flour, wheat, spinach or tomato), there are six different meats (chicken, ground beef, shredded beef, pork in mole, carne asada, and fish), not to mention the vegetarian and vegan options. Taco Del Mar does not have any fryers in the store so nothing you get is going to be dripping with grease. Not even the taco salad shells which are baked in ovens. I challenge the previous reviewer to give it another shot because I think they would be pleasantly surprised. And if you're a surfer or have ever been one, you will love looking at the vintage surfing pictures that many of the stores have displayed on their walls. Go and try it. I think you'll become a loyal T.D.M.-er.
Pros: You will love it!
Cons: You won't want to cook anymore. You'll always want Taco D.

Average burrito place. The options are very limited, with no steak or shredded beef. The quality reminds me of school cafeterias. A much better place is the new Chipotle on university way. I won't ever go back to taco del mar after going to Chipotle once.
Pros: fast, filling
Cons: , no shredded beef, low quality
