In Short
Almost everything is organic here and very earthy. From Birkenstocks to baseball caps to babies in strollers, all types are welcome and served by a very hip staff. Breakfast is served until 4pm: Most popular choices are the blueberry buckwheat pancakes and the Texas sized portion of black beans, salsa and cornbread with eggs. For lunch, consider the sweet potato sandwich layered with smoked mozzarella, artichoke hearts and basil oil. Fresh ravioli and a fish special change nightly. Finish with the Mounds of Joy: coconut ice cream with melted chocolate.

I've been to LSD four times. It's close to a friend's work so I'd go there afterwards. The food is *excellent*. I've been really pleased with everything I've had. The french toast is the best I've ever had, and I love the chicken sandwich with the spinach salad. Yum! However, the service is scant and slow. The tables are sometimes dirty. It's also a poor value - they last time I went they charged me $1.50 for a side of syrup! I swore I'd never go back. (This after waiting 30+ minutes for my food.) So, take a chance on it if you have extra money and don't mind poor service - they have good food!

Great food for breakfast, with friendly service, and the Caffe Vita coffee they serve is damned good! It's the most coffee I've drunk at one sitting----over a day's allotment! It was enough to send me over to Caffe Vita's closest store. The food at Longshoreman's Daughter is really good, in healthy portions, and the ambience is like original Fremont: welcoming funky.

The service here was quite possibly the worst I've ever received in Seattle. Our waitress made it clear that we were an annoyance to her. She was slow, rude, and disdainful of our polite requests for things like a clean napkin (after I used mine to clean the sticky goo that was on the table when we were seated). The food was blah. My french toast was burnt and my husband's Texas eggs were basically a plate of beans with some eggs on top. We will never, ever go back!
