Editorial Review for Gordito's Healthy Mexican Food – by Citysearch Staff
The Scene
The front counter order-taker is likely to be the most cheerful person encountered in a day; and the food, considering price and quality, is about as good as it gets. That accounts for Gordito's youthful clientele and the wide spectrum of professional and blue-collar lunchtime burrito gobblers.
The Food
The lines that frequently spill onto the sidewalk indicate that there's something inside that makes it a little different from Seattle's typical Mexican joint. That something is huge portions of hot food at bargain prices. The restaurant also eliminates a lot of fat by leaving the lard out of beans and grilling rather than frying meats. Clients fill their bellies with a host of burrito choices, including the incredible burrito Grande, which requires two large flour tortillas to surround its mountain of fillings.

Save MoneyBurritos are roughly the size of a Duraflame log, so share or plan on having lots of tasty leftovers.
Know Before You GoThe cost for low prices--being your own waiter/waitress. Order at the counter, grab a seat, wait for your food to be delivered and bus your dishes.
ParkingA small lot is west of the restaurant, but note: Only half the spots are allowed for Gorditos, and the lot does tow.
What to DrinkFresh-made horchata (rice milk and cinnamon) and daily agua frescas (assorted fruit flavors) are excellent.

The burritos here are amazing. The carne asada is seasoned to perfection and their salsas are also very tasty. Fast, friendly service, outdoor seating in the back...highly recommended. The only possible downside is that it can get pretty loud in there...but that's part of the atmosphere.
Pros: Carne asada is amazing, huge burritos

I kept hearing over the years how great this place is. Well, I finally got a try of one of their giant burrittos. I was severely disappointed. It may be healthy and the ingredients certainly were fresh but it was not a taste treat in the least. Bland stuff rolled in a gummy tortilla. While a few of the Mexican restaurants in Seattle match those great ones that I've eaten in in Mexico, California, Texas and even Washington, DC, this place doesn't even come close to passable.
Pros: I'm no longer anxious to find out what the hub-bub is about...been there couldn't figure it out
Cons: Bad tasting food.
