Editorial Review for Phad Thai Restaurant – by Jill Lightner

The Scene
Quiet word-of-mouth recommendations have been building the business for more than a decade. The style is plain, but comfortable, with squishy vinyl booths and Thai art mixed with travel posters and enormous photos of the Thai royal family. Even on busy nights, there always seems to be a booth available, and the takeout business is nicely unobtrusive.

The Food
The spice ratings run from one to three stars and can be blindingly hot or quite mild, depending on who's at the stove--be cautious at first. The coconut-peanut sauce, served with all "swimming" dishes and the chicken satay skewers, is rich and luscious; garlic chicken is a pungent, lower-fat choice. Pad thai is light brown and fragrantly spicy, with plenty of egg and peanuts. Sweet, cool Thai iced tea or coffee blend well with the spicy dishes.

went here for the first time, its in my neighborhood. the phad thai had no flavor, even with 3 stars. the chicken skewers came with some gross peanut sause, it was very oily and also very bland flavor. the food seemed more traditional style than american-ized versions, but it was still bland and oily.

As much as I want to love this place being that it's in my neighborhood, I've found the flavor of the food to be lackluster. The Tom Yum Gai in particular was dissapointing - very watery.... I much prefer Sea Thai which has the best Thai soups I've ever had, and I've had a lot.

Pros: Nice Staff

Cons: Weak Soup
